It's almost watchable
r96sk16 March 2023
Well. I get the dislike, I truly do, but honestly... it's almost watchable.

'Attraction' has a pretty cruddy plot (featuring scenes that were clearly written by men for men, let's be real) so should make for an awful watch. Yet, I kinda didn't mind it while I was watching it - as noted, it's in fact almost something I actually say is worth a watch. I'm not fully sure why, granted, but I'd be lying if I said I disliked it enough to give it a lower rating.

Yana Marinova is a likeable lead, portraying basically the only properly likeable character in the entire film admittedly. Alexander Sano does alright in his role, as does Luiza Grigorova-Makariev. Koyna Ruseva doesn't have much to work with, given her character is way too cartoony.

Not that it's a sign of anything meaningful, though interesting to see that only Radina Borshosh from the cast has an English Wikipedia article - on that note, how about Sonya's fight skills btw? That kick into Vasil's crown jewels is a work of art, as is the slap on Diana.

A lot of the film is cringey, especially that concluding speech scene with Marinova's Lora. The literal final scenes go full blown 'The Inbetweeners' too, as Nikoleta Lozanova replicates Belinda Stewart-Wilson. Iykyk.

I understand the hate, though I think it moreso falls into the 'so bad it's (almost) good' category. I will not be revisiting it any time soon, yet I didn't have a negative time with it so...

Attraction - a realistic movie about the lost Bulgarian young generation
BoshArrow26 March 2018
Attraction is surely an interesting movie with a clear plot - it presents the life of the young history teacher Lora Angelova, who struggles to cope with the problems at her school. Most of her students are arrogant, interested only in money and relationships. They lie and act like bullies during the whole film - you will probably hate almost all of the young characters in the film. What I disliked in this movie is that they did not change their behaviour at the end - they stayed the same "cool" guys with the same value system. I give this 7/10 mostly because it is a Bulgarian film, I support the Bulgarian cinema, but I would like to see a movie which shows the bright side of our new generation. There are young people who have other values, support their parents and their teachers, study really hard in order to have a happy life, understand the real meaning of the word "love".

Poor acting and even poorer plot
aneliyabakalova31 March 2018
I love Bulgarian cinema and was very disappointed by this film. Yana Marinova's acting is poor and unconvincing. The constant focus on the girl's half-naked bodies dressed in "school uniforms" verges on pornography. There is very obvious advertising of cigarettes and alcohol throughout the film, and what is worse is that the vodka and cigarettes advertised are being consumed by students. I can't think of any Western developed country where this would be allowed. The teachers are portrayed as corrupt and unboundaried, and the students - as spoiled brats. Quite frankly, I felt like walking out a few times and I'm not sure why I didn't.

A True Art Piece
ellobo-6050731 December 2018
A 500.000USD budget(?) and if true, well learn that Hollywood needs 300.000.000USD to create half the quality.

From the plot, to the decors, the amazing special effects, the role play and acting, the light, frame and mixing, this movie is a must be watch.

Don't fell for the eternal "Anti Russian" propaganda and enjoy this down to earth Master Piece.

In Attraction brilliantly sustained screenplay unveils a vision of Brave new world but he's also reveling in sheer theatrical magic in a way that only a master can. Attraction matches its predecessors in narrative intensity, epic scope, socio-political analysis, physical beauty and deep feeling for its characters and milieu. It's strange how the earlier movies fill in the gaps left and answer the questions. Marvelous supporting and main performances all cast and crew in Attraction. There have been a lot of movies where stars have repeated the triumphs of their parts - but has any star ever done it more triumphantly than Marlon Brando does in "The Freshman" He is doing a reprise here of his most popular character, Don Vito Corleone of "The Godfather," and he does it with such wit, discipline and seriousness it's a brilliant comic masterstroke. The recording style of The Freshman always up to its verbal wit and then the writing sets an exceptional standard. Poetry and passion in ''Attraction''! Comedy and tragedy are fused into one absolutely marvelous affirmation of independent spirit like Dead Poets Society. The picture in Attraction draws out the obvious and turns itself into a classic. Commands respect and affection. The plot, screenplay are constructed and well directed through impossible heroics. ''Attraction'' more violent, more explosive the plot find entertaining relentless action. A wonderful movie, sincere and inspired, with terrific performances and a story that doesn't let up. The plot has the gentle nourishing quality of a fairy tale that you want to believe, and the unpredictable journey in entertainment. Recovers the style, wit and grandiose fantasy elements of the original. Clever and enjoyable wrapping-up of the time travelling adventures. Main title ''Attraction'' is all smiles, nostalgically respectful. ''Attraction'' has upgrade immortality in traveller philosophy passenger ''I come on behalf of one whom I love. I take my leave. There are those who dwell in the mountain. You would call upon them to fight? Anduril, the Flame of the West, forged from the shards of Narsil. Put aside the Ranger. Become who you were born to be. Who enters my domain? One who will have your allegiance. The Dead do not suffer the living to pass. The way is shut. It was made by those who are dead. And the Dead keep it. The grey rain curtain of this world rolls back and all turns to silver glass. A far green country under a swift sunrise. Out of the Great Sea to Middle-earth I am come. In this place will I abide, and my heirs, unto the ending of the world.
