Pirates are selling hundreds of stolen login details for popular over-the-top services on “dark web” marketplaces, according to new research by content-security firm Irdeto.
For the month of April 2018, Irdeto discovered 854 listings of Ott credentials from 69 unique sellers across more than 15 dark web marketplaces. The purloined usernames and passwords on sale were from 42 different streaming services including Netflix, HBO, DirecTV and Hulu.
According to Irdeto, the stolen account info it discovered was available for an average one-time price of $8.71, while some dark-web sellers also offered bundles of credentials for several services at higher prices.
It’s not clear how many of the stolen Ott accounts illegally available for sale represent legitimate, active accounts — or just scams from cybercriminals. Irdeto said it did not buy or test the stolen credentials but discovered other buyers who commented that the accounts they had illegally purchased worked.

In a twist straight out of a movie, “The Equalizer 2” shot past “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again” to steal the box office crown.
Going into the weekend, it looked like “Mamma Mia! 2” would easily debut at No. 1. Final numbers won’t come in until Monday, but weekend estimates show Sony’s “The Equalizer” sequel opened above estimates with $35.8 million when it launched in 3,388 locations, while Universal’s highly anticipated follow-up to “Mamma Mia!” debuted with $34.4 million from 3,317 screens.
“Equalizer 2,” the first sequel of Denzel Washington’s nearly four-decade long career, debuted overseas with $3.3 million in 11 international territories. In North America, “Equalizer 2” premiered ahead of its predecessor. 2014’s “The Equalizer” opened with $35 million and went on to generate $192 million worldwide, including $101 million domestically.
“It was a surprise to come in at No 1. in an extremely competitive marketplace,” Adrian Smith, Sony’s head of domestic distribution, said. “It really speaks to the power of Denzel,...

“Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again” is heading for an impressive opening weekend in the $41 million range at 3,317 sites in North America, early estimates showed Friday.
Denzel Washington’s “The Equalizer 2” should finish second with a solid $33 million at 3,388 locations, followed by the second weekend of “Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation” with about $23 million. The opening of horror sequel “Unfriended: Dark Web” will open with a moderate take of around $4 million at 1,549 venues.
The weekend represents a rare instance of three sequels opening in wide release at the same time. The only other occurrence came on the Dec. 16-18, 2011, frame with the launches of “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol,” “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows,” and “Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked.”

“Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again” has opened with a solid $3.4 million at 2,850 North American locations in Thursday night preview showings that began at 7 p.m.
That was enough for the musical to top Denzel Washington’s “The Equalizer 2,” which launched with $3.1 million at 2,934 sites in Thursday previews that began at 4 p.m. Thursday.
Universal’s follow-up to its 2008 musical “Mamma Mia!” is tracking for a three-day tally between $30 million and $36 million when it opens in over 3,317 venues. Its predecessor opened with $27 million on the same weekend a decade ago and finished with $145 million domestically and $615 million worldwide on a $52 million budget.
“Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again” is both a sequel and a prequel, highlighted again by Abba songs. Most of the original cast — including Amanda Seyfried, Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, Stellan Skarsgard, Colin Firth, Christine Baranski, Julie Walters, and Dominic Cooper — are reprising their roles with Cher...

“Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again” danced to $3.4 million at the Thursday box office, while Sony’s “The Equalizer 2” took in $3.1 million at the previews.
In 2008, the original “Mamma Mia!” earned a modest $27 million opening weekend while serving as counter-programming to “The Dark Knight,” which opened the same weekend. (The adaptation of a London and Broadway stage hit eventually earned nearly $610 million worldwide on a $52 million budget.)
Independent trackers are expecting that “Here We Go Again” will improve on the opening of the original “Mamma Mia!,” projecting an opening of $32-34 million from 3,200 locations while carrying a higher production budget of $74 million.

Over the past several years, a new subgenre of horror movies has explored the eerie side of the online world we spend most of our time in these days, and while Blumhouse’s first Unfriended film focused on a supernatural element of the Internet, its new stand-alone sequel, Unfriended: Dark Web (coming to theaters tomorrow), is a terrifying look at the endless, real-life horrors waiting just a few clicks away every time you open your laptop.
In one of the most evil Blumhouse films yet, Unfriended: Dark Web chillingly demonstrates that one of the scariest things in today’s world is often just a couple feet away, staring right at you with its all-seeing eye. Capable of being creepier than a haunted house or a sinister spirit, your computer’s camera may be the best way to keep in touch with your family and friends, but it’s also a...

To the very best of our knowledge, this weekend will serve as the first time ever that eight of the top ten films at the weekend box office will be sequels. Both of the past two weekends have featured seven sequels within the top ten * which had happened before (see the very same weekend two years ago) * but with the release of Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, The Equalizer 2 and Unfriended: Dark Web this weekend, it's virtually guaranteed at least eight of this weekend's top ten films will be sequels. The sequel leading the charge will be Universal's release of Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, which debuts ten years after the first film delivered over $144 million domestically and an impressive $609.8 million worldwide, which, at the time, was the highest grossing musical worldwide until Beauty and the Beast exploded to $1.26 billion worldwide last year. While Mamma Mia 2 won't challenge Beauty's record,...

Stephen Susco’s Unfriended: Dark Web – quite spectacularly – clears its cache of any historical connections to Leo Gabriadze’s original Unfriended. Gone is Laura Barns, swapped out for Dark Web “realities” and glitch mob superhackers who emerge from the world wide web’s seediest reaches. Once again Skype brings people together, and once again they’re hunted one by one while their webcams record it all. Familiar? Yes. Executed with equal menace? Not for a millisecond. Ghost Barns’ revenge is blindly ignored and doubled-back on, as this keyboard Game Night abomination can’t even hold a candle to the Blumhouse films of 2018 – the same year Truth Or Dare was released.

In true popcorn-season form, it’ll be a battle of the sequels at the domestic box office this weekend.
Universal’s “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again” is taking a chance at the top spot against fellow newcomers “The Equalizer 2” and “Unfriended: Dark Web.”
The follow-up to 2008’s jukebox musical “Mamma Mia!” is tracking for a three-day tally between $30 million and $36 million when it opens in over 3,200 locations. A $30 million-plus debut would be a jump on its predecessor’s $27 million start. Much like the hit Broadway musical it was based on, “Mamma Mia” became a box office smash, earning $615 million worldwide on a $52 million budget. Though it pocketed an impressive $144 million in North America, “Mamma Mia” found even greater success overseas, where Swedish pop group Abba has a huge following. At the time, it was the highest-grossing film directed by a woman (Phyllida Lloyd), until it was surpassed by...

Ten years ago, while “The Dark Knight” and “Iron Man” were ushering us into a new age of superhero blockbuster domination, “Mamma Mia!” was waving the flag for Abba fans and mid-budget movies alike. Now Universal is hoping to repeat that success with the new sequel “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.”
In 2008, “Mamma Mia!,” which was made on a $52 million budget, earned a modest $27 million opening weekend while serving as counter-programming to “The Dark Knight,” which opened the same weekend.
But while Christopher Nolan’s “Batman” film became a cultural phenomenon and grossed over $1 billion worldwide, “Mamma Mia!” quietly endured for two months at the box office, earning over five times its opening with a domestic run of $144 million.

Anyone who’s seen “Unfriended” likely assumes that its soon-to-be-released sequel, “Unfriended: Dark Web,” doesn’t have an especially happy ending. As it turns out, they may be both right and wrong. A list of instructions for projectionists shared on Twitter includes an unusual warning: “Please Note This Feature Has Two Different Endings.”
The film — which, like its predecessor, takes place entirely on a computer screen as a group of video-chatting friends find themselves the target of a killer — premiered at South by Southwest earlier this year, and no mention of an alternate ending was made then. Blumhouse’s latest offering appears to have either added the new conclusion or simply saved it for theatrical audiences, though that’s yet to be confirmed.
No word yet on how the new ending differs from the original or whether there’s any way of knowing which one moviegoers will be treated to.

"The most evil film Blumhouse has ever made." Now that's a killer quote. Universal has debuted a second & final trailer for horror sequel Unfriended: Dark Web, produced by Blumhouse, the follow-up to the screen horror movie Unfriended from 2014. The film unfolds in real-time on computer screens, following a guy and his friends who discover something on his new computer. He "discovers that the previous owner is not only watching him, but will also do anything to get it back." The cast includes Betty Gabriel, Andrew Lees, Colin Woodell, Rebecca Rittenhouse, Connor Del Rio, Chelsea Alden, Savira Windyani, and Stephanie Nogueras. This whole concept still seems way too gimmicky for horror, can't say I'm into this at all. But it might play well with horror fans waiting for something terrifying this summer. Watch out. Here's the second & final trailer (+ poster) for Stephen Susco's Unfriended: Dark Web, from YouTube: You...

Since its founding in the year 2000, Blumhouse Productions has undoubtedly grown and evolved into one of Hollywood’s biggest horror exports, with titles ranging from Truth or Dare to Split, Jordan Peele’s Get Out to Happy Death Day.
Its latest release hails from producer Timur Bekmambetov, and it’s about to make you rethink your digital life on the world wide web. We are, of course, referring to Unfriended: Dark Web, the sinister tech thriller that takes the core premise of its 2014 predecessor and spins it out in an entirely new and exciting direction, all of which unfolds in real-time across a series of blinking computer screens – not unlike Bekmambetov’s Profile from earlier in the year.
And so, ahead of the film’s arrival next week, Blumhouse has debuted a suitably creepy teaser trailer in which a group of 20-somethings uncover what appears to be an underground human trafficking ring,...
