I'm so glad this video resurfaced out of nowhere and a page was created for it in here. I remember watching this on MTV and being admired in seeing Jim Jarmusch's name attached to it as a director of the music video. It's a nice combo Jarmusch and Talking Heads together, both creative and influential artists that had their major exposure at that time. "The Lady Don't Mind" doesn't create one of the most gripping or exciting videos of Talking Heads collection but there's always a pleasure to see them, their unusual routines, quirky moves and some artful concepts in their clips.
Jarmusch mixes black-and-white with minor colored touches presenting the band performing the song (unfortunately it got heavily edited, so it's a different version than the one played on the album or radio, neither obviously the extended version), with David Byrne and company either seated or spinning around themselves in heavy rotation; and there's this lonely girl inside of an apartment, standing on the corner or at times playing with cards; intertwined with beautiful shots of Manhattan at night.
I usually like to comment about possible connections between the images and the song (as I did with "Road to Nowhere" and "Once in a Lifetime") but to this one in particular I'm gonna leave it up to you, future or past viewers; there's a deeper meaning behind all that but I was more inclined to enjoy the way Jarmusch used his art skills and absord the Heads sound, one of my favorite songs of theirs. If the lady don't mind, why should I mind? It's all subjective. Fun and enthusiastic moment for everyone involved with it and I was entertained. 8/10
