'Blood Beat' An Interview with Fabrice Zaphiratos (2017)

*** (out of 4)

Writer/director Fabrice Zaphiratos is interviewed for this 18-minute featurette that has him discussing his life and his cult film BLOOD BEAT. If you've seen BLOOD BEAT then you know it's a pretty wild, over- the-top and bizarre little film and I'd say the same thing about this interview with its director. Zaphiratos jumps around all over the place as he talks about his childhood, his director father turning him onto musicals and giving him a passion for cinema. Throughout the 18- minute interview several topics are covered including the making of BLOOD BEAT. As I said, Zaphiratos pretty much jumps around all over the place and he touches on a wide range of subjects, which keeps the interview rather fresh. You never quite know what's going to come next and I guess that's really not a bad thing. Daniel Gouyette directed, edited and produced this piece and it's certainly a unique featurette.
