A carefully crafted fabule about a kid's discovery of his own identity. From before the credits and until the end we relate deeply with the struggle of this kid who feels obligated to conform to the expectations of her parents.

And yet, it is in its clear gender identity theme, as the title immediately states (signifying cleverly the physical confusion and psychological determination of the protagonist), that we are moved and understand that the sense of self identity doesn't come from gender and the expected roles, but from your choices, despite a society telling and pushing you otherwise.

From the simple brushing of the kid's hair, to the mother's change in the end, the movie utilises a beautiful animation style to show the differences deeply rooted in our education, that can influence our whole place in the world.
