A Line in the Sand
bobcobb30131 May 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The best episode of the season and one of the best NCIS: LA episodes in a long time. This is what the show should be. A well-crafted story that produces a lot of action, not just shootouts for no reason.

The Kensi and Deeks scene airing their issues was some of the best work from those two. Incredible tension.

One of the best episodes, so sad people just don't get it!
outerheaven2311 August 2019
This is my first NCIS L.A. review but with all the negativity I just had to chime in. The episode was written by Frank Military, the best writer of the show by quite a long shot. It changes the mood from the sunny, quirky, comedic, procedural tone of the standard episodes to a dark, dramatic, suspenseful and serialized one. The entire mood of this episode is different since the lighting is configured to refelect nighttime which creates a feeling of threat and uneasyness which is also mirrored in the dialogue. In a word, the procedural becomes a drama here and the episode feels more like a Michael Mann film thank like a standard NCIS episode of the week. And that's what's so great about it: finally showing grittyness and conflict between characters, it almost feels like a cable TV show and that's a COMPLIMENT. So please, all you haters, go watch some other stale and superficial procedural and don't critizise this one for trying to include real drama which if anything should be applauded!!!

Great

Warning: Spoilers
NCIS LA, is a great tv show. To understand the show, you need to understand the characters. This episode may be far from following "protocol" as some of the reviews have stated but. It makes you Angry, Sad, tense and frustrated at how shay molesley acts, probably not much different from how a mother would act to retrieve their son in the same situation. You can not dissect every fact, protocol, MO, of how feds are supposed to act. If you want something Factual, watch a documentary. This is show for entertainment and is definitely does that. Great cast and great show.

One of the Most Intense, Emotional and Heartbreaking Episodes EVER!!! Part 1
MovieTVRomanceFan15 June 2020
It's been two years since this episode first premiered and I still feel immense goosebumps every time I watch it. This will no doubt go down in NCIS: Los Angeles history as it's one of its most intense and unbelievable episodes as well as season finales. This episode is filled with such strong intensity during every moment throughout, including unbelievable emotion and heartbreak, particular from Kensi and Deeks. No one could have predicted what this episode had in store for us all, Sam getting shot, Mosley going completely out of control, Deeks getting fired and above all... the break up between Kensi and Deeks. This episode always makes me feel so much from anger at Mosley for how she treated everyone throughout the season to the sadness in my heart when Deeks and Kensi's wedding is called off.

The first hour was filled with arguments, anger, emotion and tears and the second was filled with all the action and intensity of the off-the-books Mexico mission to save Mosley's son which would no doubt cost everyone their careers and maybe even theirs lives. I have NEVER liked Mosley and every time I watch this finale it always makes me feel complete and utter anger at how she treated everyone which had been boiling up since she made her debut when season 9 began. She deserves to rot in hell after how she treated everyone and everything she put them through. Mosley deserves to have the book thrown at her.

However, the most emotional part of all throughout the entire first hour was Deeks and Kensi's breakup. The raw emotion I got from them was unbelievable, leaving on the brink of tears as the wedding was called off. I will never forget the fight they had in the parking garage and I simply can't handle it. It certainly served as one of the biggest fights ever had between them which nearly cost them their entire relationship for good. Everything they built together was crumbling down between them and I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Overall, this episode was only the first part of the two hour season finale and the very last moments will leave anyone who is a fan shocked and utterly speechless.

One of the best episodes I've seen
rfairns28 April 2020
How on earth can people gives this a 1* rating? They obviously have no idea what good tv is. I throughly enjoyed it best episode so far it had it all action, drama suspense and what a cliffhanger to end it can't wait to see season 10 for more of the same.

Truly awful episode
silasthehobbit-981499 September 2019
So a team who trust each other entirely, rip each other apart to do an "off the books" mission for someone that none of them trust of seemingly like? Utter rubbish.

None of it makes sense. This is so badly written and so obviously sets up an end of season cliffhanger, that watching it actually made me angry.

I cannot wait for this story arc to be over so the show can get back to being how it used to be.

Warning: Spoilers
Without a shadow of doubt, this was the worst NCIS LA episode I have ever seen and for reasons i can't even begin to count. So here are a few. Moseley obliterates protocol in an effort to save her son. All of her agents are placed in imminent peril, not only from the impossible mission but for legal reasons that would have landed all of them in federal prison. Frankly, Moseley is made an abhorrent character, far worse than she already is. I was rooting for her to lose everything, including her team. As it turns out, she gets her son back at the expense of her team. Why did Callen go along with any of this? How and why did Sam go along with any of this, and with a nicked artery no less. Absurd and utterly ridiculous. And the whole Kensey and Deeks thing left me thinking she had no real emotional investment in him at all. The best scene was Deeks standing up to Moseley, which is about as ballsy as I have ever seen him. Kudos, Marty.

Obvious security risk!
clairelo-150141 September 2018
Why does Moseley still have a job at NCIS? Having a son with a known criminal arms dealer & having had him kidnapped by his father, at the very least, is a blatant conflict of interest for her. At worst, she is a security risk for the whole organisation! Why is she still working there????

Do they think we're stupid?
morrisonliz13 July 2018
Love this show. Love Hanna/Callen combo and Deeks with anyone. Hetty is also a gem. Kensi, Eric and Nell have always been annoying and the new young agent has the personality of a rug but Mosley is megameniacal. This episode takes the cake. Sadly I think the writers think they've made her a strong woman of color but obviously they know nothing of human behavior. Inner strength isn't putting people down. Being a great leader isn't ordering people around like they're children and smart isn't being smug and putting your employees down with a smile on your face.

Are we supposed to feel bad for her or wish her put in jail in this episode? The music and shots look like they want us to feel sorry for her but not on God's green earth for someone who orders their team to break the law for her own personal needs or else be fired (multiple times).

Callen may not have lied for the woman he loves but is going to break the law for this monster? If she's here next year I'm done and I love love love Chris O'Donnell and LL Cool J

Worse Than Their Usual "Over the Top" Writing!
rickjo22 May 2018
Not since CSI: Cyber have I seen much that was this bad. Simply a modern version of Saturday matinee serials with the over the top kiddie heros.

Worst ever episode if a series in decline
Fat Tim25 June 2018
I can only assume they sacked the usual writers and replaced them with a group of 10 year olds....or monkeys. Time to put this show out of its misery.

If this portends the writing & story lines moving forward- I won't be watching anymore. Just plain stupid & the characters uncharacteristic.

Worst episode ever Warning: Spoilers
So.....Mosley beats up a handcuffed prisoner, orders an illegal wire tap, and Deeks gets fired because he knows she is out of control. Ooooo-kay. Sure, I know, she is a mother who wants her son back. I get that. But she crossed the line with all of this. That's not bad enough, the team goes along with her when they should know better. Oh, and because Mosley fired Deeks, he and Kensi have a falling out and it looks like their romance is over. Okay, so that's a big plus, worth one star. Soap opera romances belong in soap operas, not a (supposedly) serious crime drama. Oh, that 2 star rating dropped back to one star when Deeks shows up at the end and gets on the plane to Mexico with the team. If he was any kind of a dedicated police officer he would have gone back to LAPD and filed charges against Mosley.

Hopefully (fingers crossed!) Mosley won't be back next season. She deserves to be in prison for abuse of power.

Dreadful
Glitterykittywitch26 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Quite possibly the worst episode of TV I have ever watched. NCIS LA has always been a more over the top cartoonish series than the original NCIS and while there have occasionally been moments of personal revenge and licensed vigilantism it has never been as ridiculously written as this. Moseley is such a poorly written and acted character, and the *new boss comes in and throws their weight around but eventually is accepted* trope is tired and as overdone as *boss uses agency as their own personal weapon of vengeance .. just yawn. Her behaviour to the team is baffling, getting stroppy about not telling them, then stroppy when G tells them, then firing Deeks, when he points out shes committing multiple crimes, it makes no sense it is just dreadful writing. And frankly no one with that backstory would of got that job in the first place, obvious blackmail, leverage or other ways that could be used to compromise the agency. Just dreadful in every way. Take my advice and skip to next season.

TERRIBLE!
abbysgrandma8 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I read earlier reviews and I was going to skip this entire season but my daughter talked me into watching it just once. BIG MISTAKE!! Nia Long is a terrible actress and a complete mistake to have her on this show. Watching the season I thought maybe it would get better, nope! It just got progressively worse. EAD Mosley was the atypical power hungry bi$&@ that bullies and abuses everyone that dares disagrees with her. She deserved to be prosecuted and thrown in prison for her abuses and for getting Hidoko killed. I wish I had skipped season 9 completely. It really doesn't give any pertinent information for any of the characters so you won't miss much not watching this.

I couldn't stop laughing
aopek9 January 2021
This is the most ridiculous and awful tv episode I have seen so far and I watched more than 23000 episodes.

Nothing makes sense all the characters are behaving like morons and the writing is hilariously bad.

This Moseley should be in jail or in an asylum.

No agent who respect himself would ever allow her to treat him like this or to accept orders from her. She is unstable and a bully who abuses her power and her agents.

This episode is so bad it's funny and sad at the same time.

Show Needs Overhaul!
sallyvandyke22 May 2018
There is so much about this series I dislike! If it weren't for my husband, who tolerates it, I wouldn't watch at all. Dekes, Hattie, the new "head" character and the computer geeks are all fast forward scenes for me. I do not need STUPID characters on the show, but that's the formula for all NCIS shows. Too bad because that is the weakest point of all the shows...the supposedly funny/comic relief geeky characters. They wear out their welcome very quickly. Only Abby Shuto was likable.

songsiyuan-4076926 October 2019
I feel deeks is right about they cannot stay in the NCIS forever. If you really love a man you won't ask him to do sth deadly dangerous. Seriously, i really question kensi's love

Lousy Writing and character development
greydug12 July 2023
Why can't they write people with backbone and character.

Why won't they show people with morals.

Mosley goes off the rails, breaks laws, and jeopardizes everyone's lives and careers and yet they all cave and grovel and do what she demands like they're all afraid of her instead of saying F you and quitting like they should. Toss your badge and gun on the floor at her feet and tell her to F off.

The character of Mosley is a lousy character and undoes so much character work and development over the previous 8 years... like Kensi choosing Mosley and her obsession over Deeks...seriously....stupid, bad, lazy writing.

Kensi should have left with Deeks... if I was Deeks, her staying would have ended the relationship immediately They all should have refused to go... but hypocrite Hannah... he should never have been given a badge

EVERY ONE OF THEM SHOULD END THIS EPISODE IN JAIL.

Somewhat awful
Paarden77729 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
To be honest the episode was not that horrible just many parts of it were. I think you could very much enjoy it if this was the first one you ever watched. The music is pretty alright and the beginning was good. The fact that some one gets shot(though it not the person who ran unprotected at a guy firing a machine gun)is something I feel happens way to little. It doesn't have to be such a dangerous thing as this one is(near an artery), it can just be a shot that isn't at a dangerous place, or even one that didn't get through the protective vest, real cops get shot all the time, and I find it a bit unrealistic that they almost never do.

But the problem is that the characters act very out of character and some things just don't make sense. The fact that Deeks feels its better to call of the wedding because they don't agree on want they want in the future(an indeed very imported thing, and a good reason to reconsider. Except for the fact that after this episode it is NEVER mentioned again, so the problem was only created for cheap tension)and Kensi being shocked at this and seeing that as blackmailing... I've never seen them communicate so poorly and Kensi react so dumb.

The rest of the team is supporting Mosley, I don't know why as she has almost always been mean or disrespectful or bossy to them and she is now constantly threatening them if they don't do all the illegal stuff she wants them to do. Why is everybody so okay with that(except for Deeks)? And I would expect some of them to simply say No and say they rather be fired than do something like this.

What also didn't make sense is the fact that Mosley is constantly saying she is doing all this to save her son(while I agree with Callan, that kid is in no danger, just being with his father, having a pretty good life. It is bad that he doesn't get to see his mother but he is not is real danger), but when she hears his voice she is surprise and says ''I didn't think he was alive''. But if she thought he was dead, then why did she keep saying that she was doing this so save the life of her son.

But the most annoying thing for me this entire episode is Sam. He gets shot and doesn't want anesthesia as they take the bullet out, they do this to make him sound though or strong to us, but it just sounds stupid. Then he gets out of the hospital and takes no care of himself at all! His leg is bleeding, somebody suggests to him to sit down and he doesn't! Why not?! Why would you purposely slow down the healing progress by not sitting while there is a chair right there! This doesn't make him cool and strong, just an idiot. And he wants to go and help 'save' Mosley's kid, but what about his own!! He is all they have, and he is going on a suicide mission. What a horrible father!
