This season is ridiculously good!
gurrera17 October 2018
I absolutely love this show and Apocalypse is turning out to be the best season yet! However, anyone that's just starting to watch AHS is going to be completely clueless as to what's going on. With references to Coven, Hotel and now Murder House, this is not a season where you can just watch and know what's going on. With that said.. Kudos to the AHS crew!

Ms. Paulson, you killed it!
addie9218 October 2018
This episode had everything you could ask for in AHS! As Sarah Paulson's directorial debut she knocked it out of the park. Jessica Lange's performance (and return) was magnificent as always. Everyone in the cast did fantastic; it was emotional, raw, and fun to see favorite characters return. This is by far my favorite episode of the season.

DAMN

What an episode. This season started from amazing to unbelievable. It's really satisfying to see all of these loved characters from Murder House and Coven again, especially if you loved those seasons like I did. The talent from Jessica Lange never fades or ages, Sarah Paulson directing this episode and nailing it; plus Frances Conroy and Kathy Bates, just wow. Just hoping the rest of the episodes remain this good. Where is Nan tho.

Sarah Paulson did a very good job!

Warning: Spoilers
I literally just screamed when I saw Constance Langdon making her grand entrance. And I really loved seeing Sarah Paulson playing Billie Dean Howard again. I really loved it when we got to see more of Michael Langdon's past. I also really liked it when Frances Conroy play her maid character again. And Michael Langdon as the rubber man was so unexpected.

Wham! Right out the gate!

It's every bit the horror we all revisited watching AHS: Murder House as the witches learn the real horror of their new supreme. With Jessica Lange back, just makes it worth watching over and over while telling us how she died in the first run of AHS!

AS A HARDCORE FAN I THANK YOU

Warning: Spoilers
I have never written a review before, and I can't go on without giving this episode the credit it deserves. Murder House is hands down my favorite season, and I'm sure most fans of AHS can agree, and I have always wanted more, especially more story lines and answers. Boy was this everything I could ask for and more. I got to see Tate again, Constance, and most of our favorite characters from the first season. We got answers about the demon child they showed briefly at the end of season one. Oh and Tate and Violet finally have a beautiful conclusion. I'm honestly just on cloud 9 after this episode. Huge shout out to everyone who was involved, as a hard core fan, I thank you!

Giving closure to our favorite characters
fragosab18 October 2018
I want to start off by saying this episode was amazing and a great addition to the already spectacular season! Seeing all the murder house characters reappear on screen was surreal and was one of the best things about this episode. On the other hand though, the episode did feel alittle choppy. The tone of scenes would change so quickly and to me it felt like it was weirdly paced. Also, I loved how they gave all the characters happy endings but, it felt very forced and rushed. If anything I felt like they did this more for fan service. I understand it was Sarah Paulsons directorial debut and she did an exquisite job at doing so but, the episode had its ups and downs due to pacing issues and the addition of happy endings for each character that felt rushed.

How to make a perfect tv episode.
scott_miller_1218 October 2018
When season 1 ended, it felt as if many stories were ended. And going into a different storyline for season two made me think, "oh wow, I'm gonna miss the characters from season 1, but I guess it makes sense how it ended". Now in season 8, I saw previews of murder house and thought. How are they gonna make me care about these characters again? Will they just use them for a cheap nostalgia pop? Answer, they let Sarah Paulson direct this perfectly told story. I don't think I was prepared to be so captivated by everyone again. We had simple issues that were fixed over one episode, it didn't drag on. It was perfect. A nice send off to arguably one of the greatest seasons of any tv show.

Doesn't reach the quality of season one, still enjoyable because of the characters
sebasmunt18 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This episode isn't great. The first thing I want to mention is the directing. Murder House (and Asylum as well) played with the camera a lot, in a good way; it made the show feel really claustrophobic. I feel like they wanted to replicate this, but it just fell flat to me. This episode had some really weird shots and scene transitions. It was immersion breaking and felt kind of unprofessional to me.

However, seeing the Harmon and Langdon families again was really cool. I loved Ben and Michael's little story, and I was glad to see Tate and Violet finally being together. Also, Emma Roberts' acting was excellent this episode.

The Apocalypse story stuff wasn't good though. The Satanic church was really, really bad. Their costumes looked fake and cheap, them just picking up a random girl and Michael eating her heart felt way too easy and their acting wasn't good at all.

I enjoyed this episode only because of the Murder House characters, even though I like this season so far more than the previous four seasons. I think the drop in quality of this show was really noticable to me with this one, since it took place in the location of the near perfect first season. Still worth the watch because of the Murder House characters though!

Oh and by the way, did we really need to have Billy Dean Howard in this episode? She didn't add anything to the story at all. She was just kind of there.

It's just becoming kind of ridiculous.
matthewaarongorman3 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This season is getting pretty ridiculous. A lot of reviewers seem hyped that they're bringing back characters from past seasons but with the ensemble cast that means the same people with the same faces are playing two or more characters which really interferes with my suspension of disbelief. I did like Coven and it's kind of cool to have the witches back but the writing is so over-the-top and cheesy that even that is proving to be an exercise in ham-handed silliness. And as per usual, the writers try to do too much and encorporate too many elements into the show. Like why kill off Kathy Bate's character only to bring her back as a robot? It seems superfluous and just a way to throw a reference to AI in the mix simply because it's trending topic. Perhaps they'll be an actual plot-related reason for it when all is said and done but knowing these writers I kind of doubt it. It calls to mind the completely unnecessary UFO subplot in AHS: Asylum. How about just don't kill off Bate's character until you're actually done with her and leave the unrealistic robot crap out of it. The Satanic cult is cheesy and pathetic as well, a prime example of some truly hack writing. Not sure if we were meant to find some levity in observing their proceedings, but the whole thing just fell flat for me. Anyways, I'll continue watching until the end but I've found myself annoyed more than anything this season.

Man, this episode is literally the best episode i've seen so far. the satanic vibes got soo real. things just escalated so well. Paulson did a really great job. the storyline was really interesting because of how the witches really tightened the knot of every loose strings. it also explains about the aftermath of the 1st season which really clarified alot of questions that was stuck in my head.

I honestly didn't think an episode of this show could leave such an breathtaking effect on me. This season and expecially this episode is simply something special. I've been dissapointed by AHS in past by seasons like Motel (Gaga...), Reanoke and perhaps even Freak Show. First two were great, third was passable. But this season and this episode is pulling together everything about AHS that is actually worth something (good seasons) and is using old characters and storylines in such ellegant way! Sarah Paulson brilliantly produced the best and highest rated episode in the series! I watched this before I went to bed and now I can't sleep because of excitment!

Warning: Spoilers
Sarah Paulson absolutely blessed our eyes with this episode. Her first directoral debut was superb. Taking us back to Murder House with many of ours favorite witch from Coven s3 Madison Montgomery (emma Roberts) , tying so many things together, and giving Moira, Tate and Violet a somewhat happier ending. I could not get enough of this damn episode!!! We need American horror story to stay on track like this for season 9&10 because this is what we have been missing... fun, crazy, wild horror!

The Amazing Jessica Lange
sindre-stang17 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Finally the episode i have been most exited about is here. The highlight of this episode was ofcourse seeing the amazing Jessica again as Constance who is my favorite AHS characters. However there is a few things about this season that i wont to point out that for me keeps it from reaching the level of the first seasons.

At first i have a problem with Cody Fern as Michael Langdon. I do not have anything against him but i think Ryan should have cast a more experienced actor for such a big role. Cody has just started his career and have not developed the skills to pull off such a big villan role. I think Michael should have looked more scary, have a more frightning and dark precense with a lot more character in him than What we should have gotten. I have not for once been scared or felt threatend by his apperance witch i think i should have. We are presented with a boy who dont look scary or act scary. Previous villans like Dr.Arden, Twisty and others is better examples of a good villan that a horror show should have.

The second problem for me is the insane amount of comedy that has been put in the show. For me it makes the show very mutch less creepy and dont get the same dark feeling to it like the first seasons did. They have always had a little comedy in AHS but they used it wisely and at the right times before. Now it is way to mutch, and it is more teenage related.

The last problem for me is what they did with Constance this episode. The writers is not doing as good as they used too and that definetly shows with a character as Constance who always delivered great lines and was very mystic. I think its cheap of the writers too show us that a character like Constance who is a strong character who had troubled kids her entire life kill herself because of a troubled kid. It just didnt Add up to the Constance we know. But Even tough the writers have been sloppy, Jessica made up for their mistakes with her incredible acting. And that made the whole episode for me.

Murder house closure.
cruise0130 October 2019
3 out of 5 stars.

The episode has the crossover with Murder House characters. Which was a fun closure. While discovering the mystery of Michael Langdon. And his evil motives. It is creepy and weird. But a decent episode.

Been pretty mixed about this season, but this really pulled it off
alienf3tus18 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I've been hating this season so far so I had every reason to be skeptical about this episode. Happy to say I surprisingly enjoyed it.

The pacing was really nice-the episode covers a lot of ground in 55 minutes which is a nice breath of fresh air. Porter isn't nearly as annoying as he's been in every other episode too. It really ties up loose ends from the season 1 cliffhanger that was never acknowledged since they didn't know it would be anthology at that point. The scene with Moira and her mom really sold it to me. This is what AHS really is at its core: the horror of being human. The acting was perfect and such a satisfying way to close an arc from 7 years ago.

Tate's wig did throw me off a bit. I know Evan's playing another character this season, but it just looked so awkward and stiff.

I do have to admit that it does still feel like fan service and callback just for the sake of it. The only difference here is that the story actually goes somewhere, whereas the previous episodes seem to just say 'oh look you like these characters, right? that means you like the episode!' without actually going anywhere. Also, the continuity this season is a bit confusing. This is like the third episode of a flashback sequence that I keep forgetting about. A bit much, maybe? The exposition on who the ghosts were in the Murder House was a bit forced, but it's fine. The camerawork is nice to a point. The canted angles and constantly moving camera did become intrusive and unneeded, and all the closeups became somewhat suffocating.

The retcon of Tate not being Michael's father did bother me, though. Come to think of it, it feels like they just made that character Michael to give a reason to go back to the Murder House, which I'm conflicted about.

In the end, even with these criticisms, I did still really enjoy it, which is a first for the season.

Why am I still giving this a chance
namstonk20 October 2018
Crappy stuff for people who have as much imagination as an amoeba. Blah blah, oooooh sexual blah blah, usual cliche blah blah. Awful garbage, if you want to see something clever watch The House on Haunted Hill. American Horror is Groundhog Day for peeps who hate change, every series is the same apart from the specific time/era or whatever, seriously get a grip.

ALL HAIL THE SUPREME. This directoral debut of Sarah Paulson's is just amazing. And JESSICA LANGE ? Don't you ever doubt her performance. I couldn't love AHS more. Can Ryan just make more than only 10 seasons ? Cus this is addicting and NEVER BORING !
