Jim Enright displays considerable command of the movie (albeit shot-on-video) medium in this forgotten feature, which I just added to IMDb 20 years after its release. His skills and that of screenwriter George Kaplan were once taken for granted but have all but disappeared from Adult Entertainment in these days of all-sex content.
T.J. Hart, styled in mannish suits but as feminine as ever once they're doffed, toplines as a woman about to marry befuddled Kyle Stone. Kaplan's effective story premise has Stone's first wife Kate (played deliciously by Tina Tyler) about to be declared legally dead, as she was lost at sea seven years earlier.
Hollywood made several films with this gimmick, I recall Garson Kanin's classic "My Favorite Wife" and Doris Day (opposite Chuck Connors no less) in "Move Over, Darling", but this porn version is no mere imitation. It has a life of its own, and I was especially impressed by Enright's theatrical blocking and direction of NonSex scenes that made it seem like a one-act play.
Stone is effective as a nebbish, and both Hart and his lawyer Tony Tedeschi are good at creating unsympathetic characters. Stealing the show is Azleah, a busty brunette actress whos is singularly sexy and makes me want to see more of her acting (as opposed to gonzo) roles.
Exemplifying the wealth of talent at the turn of this century, porn greats Choe and Kelsey Heart suddenly pop-up as mates who were stranded with Kate on a desert island and also recently rescued, going strong here in a threesome with Tedeschi. T.T. Boy, under Enright's direction, delivers an uncharacteristically convincing bit of acting -his strongest suit being humping of course.
