Why don't people take more time before making a movie?
moelittle16 April 2023
This is a real shame because this movie could have been kind of funny. But it's not good and having your friends and family give good reviews on here won't make it good. The premise could be funny but it's not. Within the the first 4 minutes of the movie we get to see how bad the acting will be, how bad the writing will be and even an unfunny fart joke. It's almost as if the writer director wrote one draft in an afternoon and just started shooting.

This filmmaker seems to have other credits, so then why is his filmmaking so bad? Terrible low camera angles, no depth in any shots, actors placed directly in the center of the screen for the least cinematic shots possible. It's like no one on set had ever spent any time analyzing what camera angles work best in a movie.

There is a story here and there is a premise that "could" have worked. The filmmaker really needs to spend more time working things out before shooting and get a better cast. There is a reason comedies of this nature are rarely over 90 minutes.

Gray People
BandSAboutMovies25 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Nick (Isaiah Jimenez) has finally been told by his mother (Jana Collette Henry) and it's taking a toll on this plans to have a weed store with his friend Kyle (Casey Starchak). Nick doesn't have the money, Kyle doesn't want to ask his father (Essex O'Brien). That's when the Goldstein Organisation - operated by, you guessed it, Goldstein (Don Larson) - comes in and their grant programs to small businesses. Except, you know, you have to have gray skin to get one. So cue Soul Man as Nick and Kyle paint their skin and try to pass, which seems doomed to fail as Nick is black and Kyle is white.

Directed and written by Romello Blade, this takes a cute idea, has some interesting makeup as the grays are nearly bright in tone and adds in government intrigue and romance between a grey named Zeka (Michelle Nuñez) and Nick. There's no way the guys can keep up their makeup-assisted scam for long, right? And are the Goldstein Group's higher ups Madoff (Dennis Mallen) and Janice (Madi Jarrard) taking all the cash for themselves? And does Zeka know more than she's letting on?

This could have been just a little bit shorter and been much more effective, but it's a decent enough film with goofy stoner humor and an anti-racism message.

Oh my what a mess. Saw the reviews thought I might give it a try but holy crap such nonsense. This is so bad on so many levels. I respect that people involved tried to make a movie but holy crap. Who was this meant for? Even kids I suspect can't watch this. Oh my gosh it's so bad and sad. Wasted money. Can't say talent because there was none. This is so bad. Cringe all the way. 1 star for the attempt but HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!! You can try to watch this drunk or high it won't get any better. This movie gave me second hand embarrassment. I typically love bad movies for their unintended humour but this is so bad it makes The Room seem like a top hollywood movie. "So, how's your sex life'?

Cult Classic in the making
pixiedana3 February 2023
A review of " Gray People" .

This movie is sure to become a cult classic! It pokes fun of stereo types and just keeps you saying to the screen " you didn't just do or say that!" It's literally about Gray People immigrating to a made up city. Revolving around two less than enthusiastic young men ( not gray) trying to fake their way to a grant. You will laugh and shake your head. Each Character is equally funny and unique. All of them playing a stereotype you will recognize!! You can find it for free on the Plex app. I believe this director is going places. My friend Dennis has a lead and he's very very funny!

Loved It

I watched Gray People twice and will watch it again! It's a funny movie where fantasy meets and touches on some very real social issues. There are familiar and exaggerated stereotypes, that I found hilarious. Then Romeo Blade takes it way outside the box and created a new species!

It was fun to watch the Gray People speak their unique language- I challenge you to try not to laugh! I found myself cheering for both the Gray People and the loveable duo trying to get grant money.

This movie gently reminds us that financial, relationship and family issues are present in all races and also that prejudice, unfortunately, still exists. As a hopeless romantic, I LOVED the ending! There is truly something here for everyone!

A must watch
victoriea-917167 February 2023
I have watched Gray People a few times now and each and every time I laugh a little bit harder than the last. While a lot of people can relate to what these 2 young men are trying to accomplish the plot thickens and takes you for a ride with twists and unexpected turns throughout the film.

I will say stereotypes in movies are difficult to avoid but it's possible with smart casting, writing and directing and I must say Romello Blade is a genius as he achieved this flawlessly with Gray People.

A racial stereotype is a depiction of an ethnicity or race based on tropes and clichés. Stereotypes are typically harmful because they reduce the complexity of real people and erase individuality, agency and power. They can permeate our shared culture and feed into unconscious biases. But this movie does just the opposite. Romello takes stereotypes to a whole new level as he not only braces diversity but captures the comedic aspect of real life situations happening in real time. This is a must see comedy.

The diverse cast was on point and the acting from everyone was outstanding. Again highly recommend you to watch you will NOT be disappointed.

In joyed it!

Bring on the Gray People! This movie hit me like a hard reality check. It's based in Florida, so I see a lot of Floridian situations popping up! Reminds me of Florida man. Gray people a new race of grey colored people, mixes comedy and satire in a way I haven't seen before. It's a little long, but I think anything else would have seemed rushed.

You don't see comedies like this anymore. Gray People has it's moments, and kept me laughing a majority of the time. There's something for everyone here. That cup on the butt scene. Lol, hilarious!!! The catch lines truly brought me back to shows I use to watch and cherish. Is this the beginning of a trilogy of franchise? Bring on part 2!
