I was born in Torremolinos in 1977, and I can tell you that this is an accurate portrayal of what went down. My neighbors were the owners of the nightclub being portrayed as Camelot, it was actually called "why not". The husband did do some time in jail for trafficking hasish. I even went on one of the boats they used for transportation!
Well done. And the acting is amazing, the casting is perfect. I hope to see many more seasons.

Cult

Season 1: great - that's cult! The choice of actors matches the slanting roles they play. The stupid shooting around for every 20 grams of hash doesn't diminish the fun of the whole story. The retro intro to each episode alone has earned 9 stars.
Magnificent!

Such sweet melancholy! Regards to the director and the actors, ohhh the actors....
I guarantee that you will fell in love with each one of them at the time! A great work, tonic, full of colour, drama, comedy, has all the ingredience! best tv show of 2019 for me.
Cliche alert

I really wanted this to be good, but the "Málaga accent" was way off, it's riddled with cliches and I was reminded of how bad some shows from the 80's could be. I didn't think it was possible to make a show like this in 2019. I only saw half of the first episode and that was plenty for me. Too bad.
It gets better the more you watch!

Honestly I was a bit dissapointed after the first episode. I thought to pretenciuos maybe. But I kept watching , because it reflects so well (almost perfect) the spnish cost live in the late 70's. Chapter after chapter the script was getting better, acting was spotless and the whole serie very catching. Absolutely well done, and great job of the Art Direction !!! A must see....
I can only recommended this as a sleeping aid.

This one was just too silly for me. A ludicrous string of completely worn out stereotypes, tiresome attempts at some sort of humour. Utterly unrealistic and contrived. I managed one and a half episode. Hard to believe that educated grown-up professionals would decide it worth wasting time and effort on something as puerile, uninspired and pointless as this.
Old school fun

I loved this show, reminded me of the Sweeney and the professionals from the 70s and 80s. I think the show is intentionally old school and a bit cheesy, but the lot is fun and the characters interesting. I liked the resolution of series one which ties up the story but leaves things open for a second season.
There is a bit too much 'male gaze' on Sara Saloma in the camera work, but she is stunning so.....
"Costa Del Sol" - Worthy of your time.

Imagine a TV Series, filmed in 2019, that depicts a handful of Spanish Police officers tracking drug traffickers in southern Spain, circa 1975... Torremolinos, to be precise.
One series, 13 one-hour episodes. It must have taken a massive effort to get all the (even) smallest details correct.
The disco dancers were in outfits from back then, the mens clothing had the big ol' wide collars and the cars... were accurate, even down to their 'MA' (Malaga) license plates.
Standout (to me) was the gorgeous 'Sara Salamo' (La Buhita - The Owl), who has to be one of the most beautiful Women in Spain - and she can act too.
Of course there is much mayhem, dealers in "hashish" and a lot of fights, shootings and smoking. The ending is sufficiently on tenterhooks to imagine a Series Two - let's see.
The event has been dubbed in English, so no need for subs, and I rate it 9/10.

Wow, how sad.

I know it is difficult to make a series about this time period and subject matter but please! As someone that lived through it, this embarrassed me. I had to give up half way through E5. Come on netflix, get your ... togther.
Great shooting, better script

Well at least i can say it is no Narcos anyway

Silly unfitting voice over and bad acting from the start but the narrator makes you think it will be a good one, because usually all other narco genre with it are good. .I endured 20 minutes of it, sorry but if you make that kind of entrance youre destiny is to fall. How this serie got this many approves is beyond me.
Entertaining

Lucky me, it was with English subtitles! I might have missed this great and entertaining show. All in - romance, action, crime, drama. While watching the show some scenes reminded me of one of my favourite movies "Goodfellas".
The actors/characters are gorgeous, all of them. They even looked great wearing this awful 70s stuff. I watched the show twice, which I usually do not. I hope there is a season 2 soon.
Brilliant!

This show is fantastic, set in 1970s Spain as it adjusts to post Franco dictatorship. The drugs trade is booming in Torremolinos and four police officers are thrown together and become the areas first drugs squad. The characters are excellent, the script and plot is great, the attention to the 70s setting is faultless, and after a slow start, it just gets better and better. It is such a shame that Netflix cancelled the second series, as there are so many loose ends to tie up at the end of season one. Watch in Spanish with English subs for the best vibe.
