Ok so yes, as one of the other reviewers remarked about loving sci-fi, I hold up my hand and admit to being someone who indeed enjoys escapism through encapsulated binge moments of sci-fi screenings haha and tbh quickly settled down to a 75 min period of following along to the workings of a creators show and tell, which I might add, ticked the boxes enough to keep me somewhat enthralled with the storyline.
I don't tend to be someone who tries to determine the plot, I glance over the films outline and take a peek at the trailer when available and then walk in with a blank canvas mentality - yup, the nice but dim type of guy that sometimes people prefer to avoid-their loss n my good fortune ...for me it's the benefit of not having to waste time and effort on social niceties - for them i think each to their own haha.
Maybe, I didn't pay enough attention earlier into the film to determine whether the machine brought forward a person in time from the past - that's the way my mind read the plot - , I sensed it was that way but maybe I read the story wrong and they were drawn back from the future to the past ..though that wouldn't necessarily sit right with the title of the film, then again, blank canvas n all, it could well be do. Anyhoo reason I mention this is because as the film drew nearer to the end I was wondering...
...If the version of his girlfriend recalls returning in the boyfriend's experiments, why doesn't the girlfriend in the present setting make a comment wherein she recalls the times they spent together when she appeared in those experiments?
I thought the actor Chuck? Whose girlfriend he retrieved, by way of the machine experiments, conveyed a very convincing and natural portrayal of his character. It was as though I listening to one of my friends talking as I watched the film - yes I tend to transcend into the film and become a background character who has a non speaking role to play like when you are a a footy match haha
Had I not glanced over their profile I would not have known he hadn't done much main stream acting prior to this role so it'll be good seeing him develop as he transitions more into front of the camera roles if he chooses to pursue more roles as an actor
I particularly liked the light effects touch of the girlfriend evaporations after the two experiments.
I did think the remarks from reviewer who slated the film for how the props and set had been displayed were a wee bit harsh.
I read the remark as though they had stopped taking an interest in the story, focused on the films misgivings that, like another reviewer remarked 'but for the lack of budget has, storyline wise, the makings for reworking potentialities, and missed out on becoming embroiled in character portrayals.
Nothing much more to add other than to say if peeps who are drawn to sci-fi genre like storylines with time travel themed features and don't expect big budget splurges, then it's a worthy watch.
I propose perhaps a willingness to keep an open mind, become fully engaged in the plot n maybe you will also enjoy.
