Premiered on the air the first day of programming of the WGN-TV channel 9 on April 6, 1948.
On April 5, 1948, the day before Wonder House premiered, WGN had a two-hour broadcast featuring the people from the shows that would be shown on television the next day. Dick Two Ton Baker was the first person everyone saw for the first time on WGN promoting his new show Wonder House.
The show was canceled because of the expense to produce it. Viewers often complained about the sound, claiming they sometimes couldn't hear what was being said. This also may have been a contributing factor.
