Good start.

Good start to the show. It'll take a few episodes for me to get into it, for me to get invested. But I'm sure I'll end up really enjoying it in its entirety.

The first episode of Jett has a lurid sleazy tone of an Elmore Leonard story. It is presented in the style of Quentin Tarantino.

You easily think you have entered the world of Pulp Fiction or more importantly Tarantino's adaptation of an Elmore Leonard novel, Jackie Brown.

Daisy 'Jett' Kowalski is a thief that is hoping to go straight after release from prison. However gangster Charlie Baudelaire (Giancarlo Esposito) needs Jett to pull off a safe job in Havana. Jett needs the help of her partner in crime, Quinn but he is jail so he needs to be broken out of jail.

You can sense this series hints at betrayal and violent revenge. There are several shocks and twists by the end of the first episode. Going straight is not going to be easy for Jett.

This was a slickly made episode, beautifully photographed with location shooting in Cuba. However it was not easy to follow as it messes around with its time structure. The sex scenes also looked gratuitous, they are there in order to make the show looked adult and arty.
