A loving story about hope
casa_de_angel8 October 2019
In times where diversity ranks as high as it can get in The Netherlands and stereotypes are as ever actual, DE BELOFTE VAN PISA has its lead Sam invested in a search for hope to leave his natural habitat in search for a meaningful life, away from crime and those same stereotypes. Its lead Shahine el Hamus transforms effortless and gives a touching debut. Together with its flairy direction, contrasting colors and a overtly present musical score, DE BELOFTE VAN PISA succeeds and delivers. You walk out of the theatre feeling hopeful. Based on the bestselling book written by Mano Bouzamour.

A story about the pressure culture brings

I loved this movie, i found that the first part looked a bit cliche but right 1 hour mark it started to really show its potential. the protagonist of this movie played by Shahine el Hamus was seen struggling between following his heart and following the road that the people around him thought he should follow. His acting in this movie really shows that he has a great road ahead as an actor.

A movie filled with propaganda and lies.

As a Dutch-Morrocan viewer I was really annoyed by the steriotypical manner in which the characters were portrayd. The Dutch were really understanding and helpfull. The morrocans were ungrateful criminals and full of hate against the Dutch people. The right-winged parties will gain some votes after this movie.

In the morrocan culture our parents will always come first! We would never abandon our parents to live somewhere else.

3 stars for the effort.
