After Grumpy's anger sends his belly badge out of control with a thunderstorm that wipes out a newly-planted Whiffle meadow, he vows to never be grumpy again. Renaming himself "Mr. Happy Face," he drives everyone crazy with niceness. When the Whiffles desperately need his clouds to make rain, Mr. Happy Face can't deliver - and it's up to Cheer and the team to get him in touch with his inner grump.

The team receives a video message from Tenderheart that their mission has successfully ended and they can return home. Cheer suspects something about the message is wrong, but other members of the team don't believe her. Cheer courageously stands her ground and keeps the team in the Silver Lining while she solves the mystery, and reveals the message was faked by Bluster.

When Funshine accidentally breaks Cheer's beloved necklace, he can't bring himself to tell her - because he's sure it will break her heart. His attempts to repair the broken piece end in comical failure, so he hides it. When Cheer wrongly thinks Dibble is responsible for the disappearance of the necklace, Funshine knows he must tell her what happened.
The Care Bears are to witness the blooming of the Pinata Tree - an ancient annual event. But Good Luck gets impatient waiting and tries to hasten the event by making the Whiffle "Keeper of the Tree" giggle which, if he giggles enough, will cause the tree to explode in a magical bloom. But when Good Luck's giggle-inducing entertainment goes awry because he relies on his errant shamrock, he must learn to forgo his shamrock and practice his act instead.
