Vocabulary:
- Iron Pipeline - Iron is a colloquial term for firearms. I-95 is referred to as a Pipeline, since most guns used in crimes in New York come from states to the south with more lax regulations.
- IBIS - Integrated Ballistics Identification System, a database which can identify a gun used during a commission of a felony based on the striations on the rounds discharged from a firearm.
- Straw Buyer - An intermediary, who buys a gun on behalf of someone else.
- Shotspotter - A system which can triangulate the location of a firearm's discharge based on the "returns" or time of arrival of said signals picked-up by antennae and measured accordingly.
