A very deep and thoughtful piece, but sometimes the story gets muddy

I found Mr. Anton from his Yelp reviews, and immediately browsed his vast and diverse filmography on YouTube. I was instantly drawn to Goats from the Underground, which found George undertaking an autobiographical and surreal dive into the complexities of modern life. It is an existential journey through the mind of a thoughtful man, and one that I deeply enjoyed. The extravagant special effects give great insight into the mind of Anton, filmmaker and poet, as his reality crumbles around him and the goats rise from the underground. One can't help but see it as an autobiographical piece that speaks to Anton's own sense of reality. The formalist strategies transcend the narrative as the story evolves, eventually taking us to his religious transformation, depicted in the style of Terrence Malik. One can't help but wonder if Anton was inspired by Malik's work, though he surely provides his own unique and original commentary on the nature of our universe in the age of social media.

My favorite scene is with the dancing reindeers. Great work, George. Keep it up.

A beautiful 1-man show of a short film from the multi-talented George Anton!

I celebrate George Anton. The kind of filmmaker who makes a short film that makes you think. This film is clever, very deep, and full of George's sense of humor. Throw in the over-the-top special effects & it's a fun ride through the question "Why are we here?" Keep the ideas coming, George Anton. The world needs more light-hearted creativity like this film...this beautiful 1-man show of a short film from the multi-talented George Anton!
