Lovers Separated

Fétiche and Loulou are on a tropical island, where he clumsily satisfies her every desire. However, she does not care for fruits, she wants fish. Fétiche goes fishing, but is seized by the mermaids and taken to their queen, whose chef prepares him for dinner. Meanwhile, Loulou is captured by the monkeys, whose king desires her for his consort.

Starewicz worked with his daughter Irene on the five Fétiche shorts. This last one is as childlike and charming as the others on its own terms, although a modern audience may be offended by the savagery of the monkeys. I am not, but I am old, and accustomed to the assumptions of other eras, and find some people seem to take pleasure in finding reasons to be offended. If you're like me, you'll enjoy this a great deal.

Comic " stepmother" nature
luigicavaliere13 February 2019
In Starewich there' s a fabulous size with mathematic surrealism of the movements as his contemporary Buster Keaton in '20 years of 1900. The nature is " stepmother" as the poetry of Giacomo Leopardi. But in Starewich the dangers become comic , as the trap of the lobster. The animals become like humans, as the love of Fètiche and Loulou.
