Wow.

Very well-done story about sexual assault. The image of all the female staff members - doctors to maintenance - providing a safe passage to the survivor on the way to the OR was something else.

This is Emmy material right here. They covered all angles and every aspect of the subject without being clinical. The empathy and compassion, the horror and pain. Fricking awe inspiring. Camilla Ludington brought it all. Even more so than the story line with her ex-husband. Bravo Shonda and Camilla! This type of closer to real life and digging deep and still wrapping it all in an hour is why Grey's is still one if the best and still kicking at 15 seasons. Keeping bringing us this kind if drama l!

One of the best episodes of Greys......EVER!
msanig28 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was one of the most brilliant and moving episodes of Greys Anatomy that I have ever seen. The juxtaposition between Jo Karev's meeting with her birth mother and learning the circumstances of her own birth and the case of a woman who came to the hospital after a brutal rape was excellently done. The acting by Jo and Teddy was utterly sympathetic and the scene where the victim was wheeled to the OR flanked by the female staff of the hospital was exceptionally moving.

An episode that will live long in the memory.

As a survivor, thank you
tiffany_kay-0044430 March 2019
Probably one of the most important episodes of this entire series of Grey's Anatomy that's been on for 15 seasons. Probably one of the most important episodes in current TV history in regards to sexual assault. Everyone should watch this episode regardless of whether they watch this show regularly or not.

As a survivor of rape myself who did not understand for years that what happened to me was in fact rape this episode, for me, is one of the best, well written, and raw things I've ever seen on television. Even though it was very triggering and hard to watch it was so important but at the same time they did it so well and with such compassion.

Very Important and Moving Episode
AngelusAgendi30 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This is a great episode highlighting many important deep things that must be shown: rape kits available, importance of being attentive to patient's feelings, violence, abuse, emotions and pain victims experience.

Shonda Rhimes is brilliant, very human, amazing producer and person. Many episodes have some meaning behind it, especially such ones as Silent All These Years. The hallway scene with many women standing by the patient who is a victim and at the same time a survivor was very powerful and touching. We need more episode like that.

The critics about rape kit and showing the procedures including showing fluids and other realistic things are non-sense. We must show very realistic things when it comes to such important issues. There is no reason to hide. Shonda did a great job.

Thank you for such an important episode.

This is greys anatomy at its best. Such a well written and acted episode, I'm glad they kept it about jo and what happened to that woman. The scene with all the women lining the corrridor was so moving I was brought to tears. Hope this episode shows someone out there that they are not alone and help is there if you ask.

Excellent, perfect portrayal of what all women/girls. fear almost every day!
marienrnz29 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Wow! The writers and actors portrayed a rape victim so tenderly and real. The actress who played the victim was the most amazing. I bawled. Even if you are never willing to amidt it, as a woman, from the moment we learn these things can happen, we do fear them almost daily. We may not dwell on the possibility, but we definitely have it in the back of our mind. The decisions we make, the doubts we can have, It just becomes a way of life. It's not right. Society needs to change their stinkin' thinkin'. These last couple years with such a strong women's movement going on, we are closer than ever. But men need to be more involved. Like the scene between father & son, as the boy is about to have his first relationship.

The second story about her adoption wasn't done as well, but as a person that was put up for adoption who found her birth mother and found out that she was a product of date rape as well, I have a bit more understanding about a story such as this. I'd rate that story an 8. It will be interesting to see if and when she is able to talk about what she found out.

What Television Was Made For. Bravo.
kleins12329 March 2019
This episode. Wow.

You know you're watching excellent tv when you have to pause to cheer a character on or pause to cry about something so relatable for so many women and people in general. This episode is what television should be. It was raw and relatable and eye-opening and had an emotional response for the viewer. It was the physical representation of empathy. This episode left such an impact on me that I created this account just to review it.

Bravo, Grey's Anatomy.

Great first half
hsox0929 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The first half of this episode is brilliantly paced and a well written statement on the the importance of consent. Beautifully written and impossible to ignore the weight and emotion of everything happening. I don't usually like the fact that the show frequently makes a patient come into the hospital and struggle with issues that conveniently coincide with what one of the main characters is also going through, but in this case the parallel of the patient's assault and the final culmination of what Jo has been seeking were as poignant as they could possibly be.

It lost a few points towards the end when it started trying hard to pull at your heart strings for a memorable moment. The woman is struggling with the internal debate of whether to report her attacker, and she specifically says, several times, that she doesn't want any other doctors to help her she feels ashamed and wants to be allowed to have some privacy. Which they listened to her at first, but then once she was ready for surgery they literally lined up every female cast member they could find and paraded her through the hallways on display. I fully understand that it was supposed to be a moment of empowerment and solidarity for women, but it came across contrived and, ironically, against the patients direct wishes. So that whole segment was poorly written enough to lose several stars.

Updated/edited to say... that segment on its own should have been very powerful. Everything that came before it was too. But the earlier scene where she doesn't want even Teddy to come in the room because she doesn't want any other doctors to be involved or see her like that just too strongly contradicts the idea that it was ok for jo, without the patients permission, to go lining up every female doctor she could find. So it wasn't that scene itself that was the issue, it was the writing setting it up.

In the end, Jo and Alex are the star of the show, and any episode that Meredith is kept to more or less a cameo is a win in my book. Overall a great episode and one of the best the series has ever done. Just can't give it 10 stars when there are writing inconsistencies

Mixed feelings
michele_h201118 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This episode raises some important awareness & does a great job telling the stories of two women.

My frustration is in the fact that Joe is shown furious at her mother for carrying her to term but not being able to keep her after an assault. Yet, Joe casually mentions that she had an abortion and isn't ashamed of it.

How is this consistent thinking? It's okay to not allow a child to live but she's allowed to be mad that she didn't have a great life? She can't be blamed for giving her child no shot at a life but her mother can be blamed for giving birth to her after an assault?

This is lowering the bar for what should affect the human soul & it's sad to see.

Must view
philhayes806 April 2019
This episode is the true meaning of surviving. And for all those involved in the episode they did their best to portray such a serious subject with heart and an explanation on why it isn't anyone's fault. It's hard viewing but it is good viewing.

Warning: Spoilers
This episode was way different than any episode of Grey's Anatomy showing the fear of women suffer from sexual assault traumas. The emotions were just on point.

Abby (the victim) is a brilliant actor and played the role incredibly good. Jo Wilson was brilliant as well for Reckoning her demons of her husband as well as meeting her mother

I rate the eoisode with an absolute 10/10!!!

#metoo has been increasingly discussed in the national rhetorics, but this episode took the time and explored viscerally the stories and their impact. It's revealing and heartbreaking.

It's not often I'd give 10 stars to a tv programme, but this episode deserves it-just for that one scene alone! When Abby is wheeled through the corridor, with all the women lined up, the emotion and compassion literally radiates. I didn't just have a lump in my throat, I cried buckets! It was one of the singular most beautiful and powerful pieces of television, all tied up into a few seconds, that I have ever seen.

Most Raw Episode in Television
ashscott-4262230 March 2019
I haven't watched Greys in years, but after seeing how popular this episode was I decided to watch it again, starting with this episode. This epsiode touches on everything when it comes to abuse. Including: abortion, fear, strength, resilience, blame, doubt, pain, and the list could go on. But the grateness of this episode showed sisterhood. It showed women coming together. Giving each other love, compassion, comfort, and doing whatever their fellow sister needed. In so many shows women are in constant battles with one another over men, clothes, popularity and beauty. But this was so different. This showed women coming together and the power that it holds when women stand together. Best episode ever.

Warning: Spoilers
This is how the episode left me when I finished watching it. The only sound I'd make was "wow". Only "wow".

How they portray such an important and still current (unfortunately) topic, how they relate it to what some of the main characters are going through, how they make you feel everything that's going on, the soundtrack at the right moment as always...

But all the feelings the main character in this episode is going through and the reminder that this is till an every day issue and even not all women live to be able to report it... That's not something you'll be able to forget.

Amazing episode and I'd say probably the best and my favourite so far of the whole series.

Just "wow".

Boring
flacaanonima3 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I understand the importance of reporting an assault, but this episode looked like a docu made to present to people in special talks about this issue, to raise awareness, not a normal tv show. Looked like a soap opera with a highly dramatic twist. I really don't care about her story. Basically, it was really boring. Don't preach on me once again GA...
