Alone but not Lost

I highly recomment going to the movies to see Anderswo. Allein in Afrika and get inspired by Anselm Nathanael's story... a journey across the entire african continent on a bike over a period of one year, but even more a journey about embracing the unknown, openness, faith and understanding life out of the present moment.

Impressive - What a great story.
anselmpahnkebilsli6 October 2019
Insanely moving and touching footage of a person who has gone through a journey without plan and route without great preparation. Nevertheless, this path is the best one can take. You do not need a schedule or a thousand thoughts in your mind. "What if ...". Something inhibits only the joie de vivre and energy, which you only feel when you just leave, right in the middle of nature and foreign cultures. Very big cinema, which has probably already hit thousands of people in the heart. And quite wonderful shots, filmed with a simple compact camera. You do not need a 3000 Euro camera equipment for such a thing. ;-)

It gives a glimpse of many different cultures. Seems very authentic. Authentic places, the way I like, where people live. Lots of smiles. Above all, her glorious smile :) . Lots of beautiful faces and ideas. Many fine and surprising cinematografic ideas. Many laughs. Simplicity, courage, love, trust.

Moving forward to the essentials.

Grandiose movie with a lot of goosebumps moments.
anselmpahnkebilssli6 October 2019
It's just unbelievable how Anselm captured the moments, even though he did not have a cameraman with him. Many people long for real stories, which probably explains the more than 80,000 cinema viewers. There was probably no other German documentary 2019. Has taken a real. He is so straightforward and simple, simple, and therefore so poignant and intoxicating with no effects or artificial effects. Even weeks later I am still inspired and have finally realized their own dreams.

Great, inspiring movie!
joanapost1 July 2019
This documentary is an authentic and inspiring movie that shares a long bikepacking experience through Africa. The movie opens up the heart through great landscapes, portraits and captured smiles of different people and most of all the natural and sparkling charisma of the protagonist and director of the movie.

Must see

The director takes us on his (inner) journey.

And allows us to be very close to him.

With his hopes fears and worries.

Everyone who sees this movie gets a different view of Africa and the people

who live there.

The....Africa cycle touring film
gplhl-19-74272630 June 2019
Anderswo. Allein in Afrika captures exceptionally well the huge highs and lows of a solo cycling tour through the massive continent that is Africa. The quality of self filming and editing is outstanding and would have required a lot of effort while dealing with the day to day of finding food, water, places to rest and even obtaining visas to continue the journey. If your thinking of taking on Africa or any other large tour either on a bicycle or another method, I highly recommend this film as both inspirational and an education as to what sort of thing may lay ahead. Even if your not thinking of taking on a tour, it's well worth the watch to see what human resolve can achieve when you choose to step out of your comfort zone. As someone who has also taken on the continent on a bicycle, the film brought back many happy memories in a highly polished film.

Authentic and moving

Wow! What a great story - one that is told with much excitement, emotions and love. Anderswo. Allein in Afrika reflects more than realistically and visually how Anselm did this spectacular journey. He has lived a dream and cycled through Africa - alone with a tremendous sense of confidence. The result is a awesome film - with a main actor who is none at all. Luckily! The main roles in this film are the values that we should so desperately remember in times like these: courage, trust, compassion and friendship. This movie is more than worth seeing.

A little bit naive and too romanticising
svozil-706-64277029 August 2021
The narrative serves all prejudices of the noble indigenous population; mostly smiling, never after your money and belongings.

Having travelled myself a bit along similar routes in Africa (with various cars) I am amazed how uniformly friendly the locals reacted.

But I guess, if you are driven by insatiable "Fernweh" then these images serve you well.

My guess is that Michael Glawogger's "Untitled" (2017, edited by Monika Willi) ---he died during his African trip---may be much more realistic, but maybe less entertaining.

Watching it, feels like another world
anselmpahnkemail9 October 2019
I was 2 days ago to your movie in Munich, and you amazed me completely! I am with you on the nature loving and adventure embracing, being close to people and experience the world in its purest form. Similar as you before your trip, I have / had no idea what Africa looks like, it is / was a mystery and I wanted to experience it a little bit through your eyes. Thank you for giving me a glimpse to this continent with your journey!
