The Cave
claudio_carvalho4 April 2020
Daryl, Carol, Jerry, Aaron, Kelly, Magna and Connie escape from the horde of walkers walking and crawling through narrow tunnels until they reach an old mineshaft. They try to open a way out from the mineshaft but the claustrophobic Carol tries to bomb the horde with an old dynamite that Kelly had found in the mine. She drops the dynamite and the mine collapses with Magna and Connie inside. Meanwhile Negan and Alpha have intercourse in the woods.

"Squeeze" is a claustrophobic and dark episode of "The Walking Dead" with Daryl and his team trapped in a cave hunted down by walkers and Whisperers. Carol now is an annoying character with her stupid attitudes. Negan and Alpha intercourse is disgusting. My vote is seven.

Title (Brazil): "Sob Pressão" ("Under Pressure")

Note: On 09 January 2024, I saw this episode again.

Intense
cruise0124 February 2020
4 out of 5 stars.

The midseason premiere started out intense. With Daryl and his group stuck in a cave with a horde of undead. Crawling through tight spaces and having a surprise zombie crawling behind you is creepy and thrilling. Brought the two fears of claustrophobia and the undead. It was exciting. Negans action is interesting to see where it would go. And Carols action is getting worse and putting others in dangers again is annoying.

Claustrophobic and Suspenseful, a well directed and acted episode
Holt34424 February 2020
Claustrophobic, nerve racking, suspenseful and great drama. This episode was well directed and had some good cinematography, overall great! I loved the natural lightning, really gave it atmosphere and immersed me into the claustrophobia of the cave. It's still pretty damn bad that they got in that situation with being stuck in a cave by the hands of Alpha but now when we get to see it play out and see the sets they built? I found it entertaining and great, long time since we got a true walker based episode.

The story arcs we get to follow is of course the main group trying to escape the trap set by Alpha and the other plot is The Whisperers and Negan. Jeffrey Dean Morgan is as always so damn good as Negan, but he isn't the best one in this episode. Best acting of the episode is in my opinion Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride they did some amazing work in these 40 minutes, capturing emotion and brought their finest. With that said, this season have built a lot on who Carol is as a person after the death of her adopted son and I've enjoyed the story arc as I feel her more human than the bad ass killing machine she was before, I can't wait to see what they bring to her character and some others.

The episode could easily have been an okey to bad one, if not for the acting and amazing cast of actors and characters. It's a really slow burner, not much happens in the 44 minutes. That's a negative thing but they make it so intense and suspenseful which has us on the edge of our seats. Like I said, it could have easily been a bad episode but the writers and director managed to create a great episode!

Underrated

Warning: Spoilers
Will go down as one of the more underrated episodes of Walking Dead ever. I gotta say they really used the setting(The Cave) of this episode to almost perfection. The danger of all the walkers, whisperers and just the plain tight spaces in the cave....especially the squeezed in scene was done extremely well overall. HOLY CLAUSTROPHOBIC. Only complaint for me was the episode had a golden moment for a sort of important big deal character death. I feel like the episode deserved it in itself. There was a death(we think) but I don't think it was done that great and to the wrong person for such a well done episode. But other than that I feel like they knocked it out of the park and gave us something extremely new to a show that can run out of new ideas here and there. This season is great!

Melissa McBride's (Carol) acting is phenomenal.
opreston-23 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The entire cast did a great job acting overall. Even Kelly's actor, Angel Theory, surprised me with how much emotion she put in that final scene.

The final scene in general was the icing on the cake. The way Daryl pointed at Carol in disbelief and frustration, the way Carol could barely speak because she was having a breakdown and yet pleaded Daryl say that he's angry with her. It hurt even worse that he flat out stayed silent and left her. Even Aaron, who is probably one of the most supportive characters on this show, looks at her and walks straight past her, leaving Carol alone to look at the destruction she's caused.

As much as I wanted to be angry with Carol for what she did, I couldn't help but sympathize with her, and that is largely achieved due to MMB's acting. "She killed my boy." Soul crushing.

I saw the final scene as clear foreshadowing that this is the event that wakes Carol out of the funk she's been in the entire first half of the season. Alpha has taken everything away from her; from taking her son's life, to plaguing her mind, causing her to make irrational decisions which result in her friends and family leaving her. Carol's reached rock bottom (no pun intended), and now it's time to fight her way back out. This time, with a clear sense of reality and consequence.

Why do they keep saving
Shiryu0523 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Carol? She's selfish, self-centred, a liar and mean. She's literally the reason they were got trapped in the mine when she ran after that lunatic. Connie is dead (apparently). Kill her off! Carol doesn't deserve Daryl's friendship - kill her off!

Glad they saved Jerry - big guy crawling through tiny tunnels... nightmare.

Intense and claustrophobic midseason premiere
Martin_West12224 February 2020
The Walking Dead has delivered some amazing episodes since Angela Kang took over as showrunner, and this week's episode is no exception. I was on the edge of my seat during the whole episode, and the last fifteen minutes of the episode was epic. Can't wait for next week!

As Great As Melissa McBride Is...
Liam301125 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was fantastic in many ways. It was. It was tense; it took many turns and kept me on edge. Especially with the near-death scenarios that Jerry had (though, I'm glad they didn't do my boi dirty. I would have given this even lower had they done that.)

But, I'm sorry. I surely cannot be the only one who thinks Carol is being utterly ruined. I get she's heartbroken over the loss of Henry and company. I get that. But she has been extremely dumb this entire season, in more ways than one. It's getting to the point now where scenes with Carol are just hard to watch. Not because she's struggling, but because you know she's going to do something stupid.

This episode could have easily been an 8, but once again The Walking Dead goes overboard with the characters and their struggles. And, while I can understand what Carol is going through, it's just not been paced very well. That's my main issue with it; she went from being a badass to being a clumsy, and I hate to say it, liability in so little time.

The "sex" scene between Negan and Alpha, while cringe, is not as bad as people make it out to be. It's more "lewd" than it is "sex". It didn't really take away from the episode.

As for the positives? The rest of the episode was great. It was very on the edge, unsure of what was going to happen next, anxiety inducing and thrilling. As mentioned before, the near-death scenarios with Jerry almost caused my heart to stop. And to say, at first, I didn't like him - he has grown to be one of my favourite characters, though I fear his death will come before the end of the season.

Warning: Spoilers
Why has Carol become so stupid? Why was there so much pointless stuff in this episode? Why did no one die? Why do we keep getting death fakeouts 10 seasons into the show? Despite these problems, this episode was actually ok. I liked the characterisation more than anything, particularly between Carol and Daryl and Negan and Alpha. The cave situation was pretty dumb tbh, like there was no need for the stepping stones and no need for a lot of what happened. I also do not understand why Carol is so so so dumb. This isn't even an echo of the person who saved everyone from Terminus. I get that she's mourning and vengeful but that's no reason to turn her into an idiot.

The show has become rather camp but I can see past it, it's not that deep. The fact that Jerry didn't die is infuriating though, not because I don't like him (although he is quite cringe) but because how on earth do you survive that scenario? The plot armour among other Walking Dead tropes that have been used for years are still being used and at this point it's baffling; the show is just extremely formulaic and largely lacking the originality it used to have. That being said, there is still potential and the show is definitely not beyond saving yet

Brilliant!

Warning: Spoilers
It gives me vibes from season 1&2 when we had a smaller with smaller problems like getting out of cave or building, which is more interesting than the big superhero type of events. I believe they did a great job with Carol in very logical why, I love Carol but let's be honest she's been a psychopath since the third season. Daryl suffers again! I hate that I love what they did to him. Negan and alpha had the most weird crap I've seen in show but it's interesting to see where this goes. cannot wait for the next episode, twd is in the right direction

Warning: Spoilers
At least we got a somewhat interesting story here with the gang trapped underground. Still, the writers of this show find a way to ruin it and make the episode not that entertaining in the end.

I have to admit....I am now watching this show out of loyalty. I used to be a huge WD fan! I couldn't wait until Sunday night to watch a new episode. The writing went downhill after killing Glen and Abraham. It's like something shifted. Is it new writers? New producers? WTF is it? This show gets worse every episode now. This episode tonight was like watching paint dry. It's horrible.

Warning: Spoilers
This episode was a great way to hook us back in for the second half of season 10. The setting worked perfectly to add that creepy aura to the episode and was cool that the Walkers were a genuine threat. Melissa McBride conveys all sorts of emotions in this episode and the ending scene was really well done - some great acting on her part. Thought it was also a nice touch having her and Darryl at odds in the end, considering they've always stuck side by side. It will be exciting to see Carol come back from this too! Alpha and Negan scenes were good as we start to see him going up the ranks of the Whisperers. This definitely was the best episode in the season so far as there was plenty on offer and was thoroughly enjoyable.

Awesome episode but... Carol
elvis-1198623 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This was really great comeback from midseason finale. The Horror elements were amazing. The cave scenes were chilling and gave me claustrophobia. They did amazing job I'm filming the cave scenes. Negans and Alpha's scenes were frickin weird. I guess that's what happens when you put together two characters like they are. Lol to their n a k e d scene.

Everything was really great but Carol. Come on what the fork was that. Randomly acting so dumb. It's like she have lost her brains. Making 2 worst decisions ever. Ugh I hate that writers did that. They better save Conine and Magna.

Daryl's batty mom proves once again to be the biggest danger to survivors
random-7077824 February 2020
Wow this was the worst second half of season premiere yet. Firstly, the cinematography was so dark that half of what was going on was not even visible. This trope of being stuck in a confined space has been done too many times on TWD. Then of course there was one visible scene should never have been seen, but can't be unseen. Terror ok. Horror? sure? But extreme ICK sex? No thanks. on top of that, Carol, the batty elderly lady who is Daryl's surrogate mom, would have been put down by any rational survivor group since she makes mistake after mistake putting them in profound danger. I'd rather have Homer Simpson in my foxhole than that doddering lady! Lastly I know the show is fictional but there is no credible reason why any of the protagonist survivors don't just shoot Alpha. The top down structure of the whisperers plus the fact that they are virtually always out in the open make them amazingly vulnerable to firearms, in many cases a single gun, be it basic hunting rifle in longer range exposure that has occurred over and over, or pistol in the many close in confrontations. People saying the guns would be rusted or ammo would be low, simply haven't done any research. Skip it.

chiu-2501216 January 2022
Did Carol get possessed by the ghost of Henry? Why else would she act so dumb and risk everyone's life like Henry used to do?. This is a mystifying turn of events.

The Walking Dead S10 (Ep 9) Review!!!🚨🚨 Episode 9 of The Walking Dead titled "'Squeeze" did not dissapoint as a follow up to the the crazy cave trap cliffhaner of the midseason finale. For the most part I enjoyed the episode, especially the second half of it. The first half was still quiet and gave some location chills but it mostly served as an ongoing timepass. Over the episode the group did face many obstacles in trying to get out such as waves of walkers, whisperers, and even uncontrollable group members from within. There was a certain sequence where it was not looking too good for a certain character, that I enjoyed alot, kept me on the edge of my seat. Jerry was an absolute beast in this episode. The interactions between Alpha and Negan were well...... interesting. 😂. We really see a "deeper bond" developing between the two characters as Negan shows his true colors. Lastly, the ending. Oh boy. Did it leave me speechless. This just might have been the most rapid fire ending since S10 Episode 7. All in all I think Daryls characters took a turn for the better by the end of the episode, and Mellissa McBride did an amazing job of Carol this episode. I know that Connie and Mags must still be alive but wow. The explosion of the cave hurt. So good!

Score: 7.7/10 (Good)

Solid episode
alexthelion-2127 February 2020
While season 10 hasn't been my favourite... this is a solid episode that had an amazing set, as well as very intense scenes and stellar acting (as usual though). This episode won't be for everyone but give it a shot! Btw I only give it a 10 to cancel out the loads of people trolling and giving it 1 star. But I would actually give it 8/10

Some good suspense moments
Leofwine_draca6 April 2022
As befitting the usual main or half-season opener, this episode is better than the others. The mine action is a little dragged out to reach full episode length but there are some good suspense moments, the highlight being the stepping stones. The rest is okay but I could have done without the nonsense Negan scene.

arfdawg-124 February 2020
Leave it to the idiots who make this garbage to produce yet another episode in the dark so that the viewer has no clue what's going on.

When are they going to figure out how to make a show for TV?

Everybody complains about it. FIX IT ALREADY
