The Shift (2013)
Great Movie
The ride "The Shift" takes you on, is one that leaves you gasping for air. The movie gave me great respect for the people that save our lives every day and don't get much credit for it. It also led to a lot of questions as to what's right and wrong with the life and death decisions these professionals make daily. When you leave the theater I'm sure you will have plenty to talk about! I found myself trying to figure out what was right and wrong, and really never came up with the answer..
Leo Oliva, Casey Fitzgerald, Danny Glover and the rest of the cast really make you forget that you are watching a movie, their acting was genuine and extremely emotional. It was also shot in a way where you felt like you are there observing, which is quite emotional for the viewer when your put in rooms of patients who might not make it to the next scene.
I think the great acting and story telling in this movie really show what Director Lee Cipolla can do. He did a great job making the script written by Leo Oliva come to life in a way I have not seen in many movies. He did an exceptional job making me care for the characters. Once you care for the characters you are sucked in and all else around you doesn't matter.
Great movie, but I'd live the younger kids at home. The mature content could be a but much. Look forward to seeing more work from the cast of this film.
Batman Begins (2005)
What good movies used to be like!!
I have been very critical at what Hollywood has been feeding us lately at the theater.
BATMAN BEGINS, begins a revival of what good movies are supposed to be (hopefully), NOT effects driven, but character and STORY driven with realistic effects that complement the story, not TELL it.
Christian Bale plays the Character of Bruce Wayne, putting the other Bruce Wayne's in previous movies to shame. With his chiseled features and exceptional acting, he brings this character to life. (check out Spielberg EMPIRE OF THE SUN)
The supporting cast, Michael, Caine, Liam Neeson, Katie Holmes, Gary Oldman and Rutger Hauer are the icing on this masterful cake. Bringing the movie together like few do anymore.
Go see this movie while it's in the theaters. The effect of seeing it with an audience will prove to make it more exciting! Also, visit a theater with a good sound system. The sound in this movie is great.. If you one of those people who still think movies are the same in any theater, you are mistaken. It's a scientific fact that you're senses rule you while in a movie. Think if you could interact with a movie with your other senses?
This movie combines everything you want in a movie and more, and is suitable for mature children over the age of 10. (you know your kids, if they have seen all of the HARRY POTTER movies and have come out fine, then you're OK..).
It is a loud movie with some scary moments, so use caution with your under 13's.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
