The Truman Show (1998)
Absolutely GREAT!!!!
This film is definitely one of the best films of the 90s. The story of a man who lives in his own TV-show is very original, Jim Carrey's performance as Truman Burbank is superb and long after you've gone home from the cinema, this film will be echoing in your head. Peter Weir, the director is a master in the portrayal of human emotions, and he does it again in this film. The end is absolutely beautiful. I can recommend this film to anyone!
Screen Two: Persuasion (1995)
Almost Perfect!
I loved this film, as the book is one of my long-time favourites. The film gives a great impression of what the book is like, and I couldn't help being touched by this film. Too bad Anne Elliot was cast too old to be a match for Ciaran Hinds, whom I despise. To all Austenites: SEE this film, it's better than Emma and Sense and Sensibility: better actors, better film. Evens Pride and Prejudice, but it is not suitable for boys and men: too romantic.
Just Ask for Diamond (1988)
Everyone was miscast!
After having read the great book by Anthony Horowitz, I was rather curious to see the film. Too bad it wasn't what I expected it to be. A lot of characters were miscast, and I just couldn't be thrilled by the story anymore, because the film was very dull. Many of the jokes in the book don't come out in the film, and the main character was VERY irritating, he was too young and too clever. Don't be bothered to see the movie, it's not worth your time!
