The Wrong Trousers (1993)
Funny, orignal, animation was invented for this
'The Wrong Trousers' is an ingenious bit of filmmaking/cartoon making...whatever you want to call it. It combines lovable characters with cute personalities and a humorous plot to make an enjoyable film. I can watch this again and again and again, and it's still good. Why? Well, maybe it's the writing. It's witty enough to humour you, but not too clever to confuse those little kids which this would probably attract, yet the catchphrases and gimmicks assigned to each character are good enough to make me fall on the floor with laughter. If this was played out real life, it would be a monty python style caper woth elements of Mr Nielson in there..he's make a good Gromit. The lip sync is perfect and and the voices are sooo good. Peter
Salis is sooooo Gromit i can't belive it. This is how REAL animation should be done, Walt, eat your heart out (and have some wensleydale and crackers to wash it down ). Cracking.
As Good as It Gets (1997)
A fabulous film, with a great cast and excellent acting
As a comedy romance, this film is one of the best, being of a genre which has always irritated me, with the exception of 'When Harry Met Sally', this film really enlightened me. The acting in this film is second to none and Jack Nicolson puts on a convincing and touchng performance...the man you really want to hate but you just can't resist loving him. Greg Kinnear is superb also, portraying the homosexual man who has to rebuild his life. Cute dog too.
Quiz Show (1994)
A good looking man in an equally good film?
Quiz Show is amazing. Robert Redford's assured direction and a fine performance from a now established ( and gorgeous) Ralph Fiennes makes it a pleasure to watch. Without preaching too much and becoming to moralistic, it manages to convey an important message about the media which is often overlooked. You feel every emotion the film wants you to feel, and that's when you know the cast and crew have done their job. Excellent.
The Godfather Part II (1974)
A sequel which is as good as the original, if not better
The Godfather was a hard act to follow. It had an enthralling plot and the acting was second to none. So, when part two was released, you could be forgiven for being sceptical back in the seventies. But this film was and still is pure class. With the death of Don Vito Corleone, Michael had to inherit the title, and he did it well. It covers everything you could think of and Robert De Niro is brilliance as the young Vito. Excellent.
