Wow!

Phantastic! In addition to a great plot and performances,

Woody Allen does for London and the English countryside what he did for NYC and Central Park. A feast for the eyes and the mind for all of us who don't believe in a deterministic cosmos! And since I have to write more lines: The music was also great (Opera for a change). Phantastic! In addition to a great plot and performances,

Sorry for the repetition but I tried to be brief, and they wouldn't let me!

Highly recommended

I don't know why other reviewers characterize the Eyal character as "racist" (just because he calls suicide bombers "animals" which is too good an epithet) or "homophobic" (just because he is asking about some technical details about gay relations). In my humble opinion, the movie is a fair description of Israeli realities, and German (or European) softness for terrorists. Being familiar with both Israeli and German realities I found was fascinated by the director's insights and by the fine acting of the three principals as well as the supporting actors. The music by Esther and Abi Ofarim and the nice mixture of German, Englicsh and Hebrew made the movie most enjoyable.

Best of 2003, so far. Jean Rochefort is great. Better than previous Leconte movies. Go and see it!

Best holocaust movie!
28 December 2002
As a holocaust survivor I was particularly moved by Polanski's

realistic picture of life and death in the Warsaw ghetto. The only flaws I noticed were in the German uniforms: soldiers did not routinely wear brand-new shiny helmets (with little swasticas) in the cities; they usually wore soft army hats. There was no distinction in the movie between Wehrmacht (army) and SS. The SS uniforms (at least the officers') were black. Their caps had a skull and crossbones on it. And towards the end of the war characters like Capt. Hosenfeld were not uncommon. I ran into several Wehrmacht (not SS) characters running from the Russians, who were sympathetic and could barely wait for the war to be over.

Fine Czech WWII Pseudo-Comedy
5 July 2001
This movie displays in the good old "Brave Soldier Svejk" tradition the fine Czech sense of humor and satire. The improbable script is on a par with the Oscar-winning "La Vita e Bella." Hope this one will be nominated too...
