Dance 'Til Dawn (1988)
MST3K Material
I saw this cheeseball as the Late Movie the other day. Like most things of the 80's, its fake, superficial, and predictable, but that's what makes its laughable. Still love those deep-throat be-bops and dodoots and "ohhhh. yeahhh"'s
Wild Wild West (1999)
Mild Mild West
I had never heard of "The Wild Wild West" TV show before hearing about this movie. When I heard the premise, a sci-fi western about two James Bonds with six-shooters, I was very, *very* excited. The combination of the two genres was both visually appealing and clever! I made it a point to read nothing about the movie, and avoided the preview trailers, so that the best scenes wouldn't be spoiled.
Unfortunately, my efforts were wasted.. the best scenes were few and far between, and many fell flat. The movie spent more precious time with strained sex jokes and implausible/nonsensical scenes (the lynch mob being the most glaring) than developing the premise to full potential. There was no suspense, very little imagination put into the gadgets (though I did enjoy seeing everything steampowered), and cliches galore. Will Smith was underwhelming and Selma Hayek nonexistant. Kevin Kline was enjoyable, though.
The plot went nowhere and the characterization hardly subtle or clever. Overall, I was sorely disappointed.
Oh, and can *anyone* explain how the "robot man" Smith was fighting on the spider shorted out?!
(BTW, hope I didn't rip anyone off with my summary, but I don't want to wade through 182 comments..)
