Jersey Girl (2004)
Warning! This is a very different Kevin Smith!
Although on the surface, the premise sounds like classic KS fodder (video store clerk/grad student interviews Ben Affleck about his porno renting habits), this is a tear jerking date movie for young parents!
I would love to see Smith bring back Jay & Silent Bob in his next movie, and have the ads read: "...by the director of Jersey Girl."
While the movie features many of Smith's regular actors, they have small parts compared to Affleck and 7 year old Castro.
While the movie wasn't what I was expecting, I'm sure lots of teen girls and couples will love it.
The studio can quote me: "Smith's most accessible movie yet!"
Bring lots of tissues.
Shakespeare in Love (1998)
Witty, Intelligent view of Shakespeare's Life
We had a riot playing "Spot the Reference" to many famous lines from Shakespeare's plays while watching Shakespeare in Love. The best were the ones said totally out of context: "A rose by any other name still smells...", "The play must..." "Go on?"
Praise must be given to co-writer Tom Stoppard for his insight into Shakespeare's plays and his life.
The cast are very strong, and had a great script to work with.
A very entertaining show.
The Fall (1999)
Exceptional Cinematography, Interesting Location, Classic Thriller
Set in Budapest, this Canadian thriller has enough interesting elements to make it a winner.
Lots of plot twists, amazing camera work, great shots of Hungary!
