Teen Witch (1989)
Wow! Reeks of 80s but in a good way!
Just finished this one. Totally 80s, at least 80s in the way of 80s teen moviesv from Los Angeles. I only gave it five stars but that was for the soundtrack. 80s pop dreck.
Eight Crazy Nights (2002)
did we watch the same movie?
After reading most of the other people's comments on the IMDB I couldn't help but wonder if we were watching the same movie. This was very uninspired, sophomoric (atypical of a Sandler movie I guess), unfunny (not typical of a Sandler movie), badly acted (Sandler does too many voices and doesn't quite have the range), badly scripted (moronic would be a better term), and poorly executed. I did, however, like the animation.
3/10 is what I give it. Despite what you may read here, THIS is NOT a typical Adam Sandler movie and is nowhere near some of his best work (Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison).
Mondo Freudo (1966)
Ugh!
If it were possible to give a movie zero stars, this would be it. I have seen many other mondo movies and this one easily takes the 'booby' prize as worst one created - by far.
I have to give credit to Something Weird Video for putting this stuff out on dvd but surely there are many more deserving movies of this treatment?
Murder by Television (1935)
a.k.a. Murder by Boredom
This movie is one of those many movies that sounds much better than it actually is. The "death-ray by television broadcast" plot device was actually quite minor in this otherwise sub-par 'whodunit' quickie from poverty row. Overall a really poor example as I have seen much better from poverty row.
Bela Lugosi's role really isn't very interesting and he is much better when playing more bizarre characters (Murder Legendre - White Zombie, Dracula, Dr. Carruthers - The Devil Bat).
Titanic (1997)
fleecing of the American movie public is now complete
Not only did I consider this movie a very over-rated piece of tripe (bad acting, bad dialogue, predictable story, great effects - i.e. your typical American action film of the 90's) but now I have to fear the possible repercussions of this film. This will surely send the signal to Hollywood that we want more big budget movies that focus more on effects than story (Godzilla, Armageddon, Lost In Space, Sphere). Cameron would have done well to edit this into a much tighter two hour movie by cutting out the ridiculous 'action' scenes that clogged the middle of the movie.
