Dude, this was Hanna-Barbara's only decent effort
10 May 2001
Hanna Barbera did so much below-average work, that when you take in everything about Charlotte's Web, your reaction should be... "ok, who *really* did this?" No rapidly repetitive backgrounds, a format perfect for young kids, and a faithfulness to a story to allow the adults to watch. It's not Disney, but Disney nowadays wouldn't touch this without saving Charlotte and having Wilbur hook up with some girl pig. Disney isn't any good anymore, 'cause they can't do stories like this. I will always remember "Mother Earth and Father Time". Aces out.

Pretty good movie... for a VIDEO GAME
28 September 2000
This "game" actually made a better movie than a game. Some of the combat sequences tend to be a touch repetative, but the wonderful feel of being in "a movie" is really, really quite nice. The mission tree allows for multiple endings, so there's the chance that you'll be the dog of the movie instead of the hero. Odd that Chris Roberts would tap adult movie actress Ginger Allen for such a prominant role... but I'll give credit where credit is due, she did a wonderful job acting. If you want to see how multimedia games SHOULD be done, find a copy of Wing Commander III

A decade ahead of it's time...
28 September 2000
As a gameplayer, it's amazing to look at this movie now and see that it was almost certainly the basis for the look and feel of Fasa's Shadowrun line of RPG products. Far from either an idealized look at the future, or a wasteland in the post-nuclear holocaust, it offered up a future Los Angeles that while more run-down than we'd like to believe it will be, it still is close enough to a reality we can imagine there being. Just an awesome film.

Historical Drama, at it's best.
8 January 1999
Here was a director and a writer who knew that they had a real story that needed a minimum amount of added-on work to make a fine movie. The time passing early on being marked by the fighter-jets evolution was very subtle. The haunting looks back at Edwards Air Force Base and Chuck Yeager's career seemed to ground the movie and remind you where all these heroes came from... and that there were MORE heroes waiting. Sam Shepard's portrayal of Mr. Yeager was particularly good, and I enjoy watching this film... every October 14th.

Disney's bane...
8 January 1999
When I first saw this film, I knew I couldn't be happy with the Disney-type films again. Especially now as the last several have been "cookie cutter" type affairs with the same general plot themes. The voice-acting in the film was very powerful, especially Nicodemus, and the musical score could not have been better suited to this animated story. A fine adventure filled with characters I loved as a kid, and have grown more fond of as an adult. Easily one of my all time favorites.
