The Killing Fields (1984)
Cinematography at its best
Powerful movie, placed in the tumultuous years of Cambodia's modern history. A strong political comment on a disastrous war, an improper U.S. intervention and the paranoia of the Khmer Rouge regime. It focuses on the fate of people. Cinematography at its best.
The Gold Rush (1925)
One of the best movies ever made
One of the best Chaplin movies, which means one of the best movies ever made. Good structure and a lot of excellent classic scenes such as `Eating the shoe' and `The Roll Dance'. Both the original version and the second release have their own charm.
Shrek (2001)
A masterpiece
Excellent movie. Nice plot, marvelous sense of humor, a lot of messages. That's the result of talent making use of digital graphic art. Probably aimed more to adults, in order to grasp all its flavor. Congratulations to all of the contributors. A masterpiece.
Los lunes al sol (2002)
The surprise of the year
At first I suppose I just liked the title. I didn't know a thing about this movie. At the end, I was fascinated. If you're after an adrenaline-squeezing plot, you'd better pass. It's just about the life of a few unemployed friends. It's just about life, filled with a discreet sense of humour and sensibility. I'd probably say it's my favorite movie of the year. Just as in the fairy tales of childhood, the surprise came from the unknown.
