Sobrenatural (1996)
visually impressive elegant horror film.
This is a movie which has a good plot, not impressive. But is extremely visually powerful. The camera movements and the coloring portray madness and fear. Has one of the best Mexican actresses i´ve ever seen, and me being Mexican i know that´s a rare thing. The chase scene at the end is great. And that last shot. Of the man seen through the fishbowl, his face all distorted, is so disturbing.
Trois vies et une seule mort (1996)
Three deaths
Great dark humour, very funny, felliniesque film. Mastroianni is as good as always. A tad confusing at times. Requires complete attention at all times. The ending is the best part, a very clever film.
Manhattan (1979)
amazing photography, screenplay, and score
Gershwin´s score gives life to this city. Perfectly expresses Allen´s philosophy, humor, and ability to create interesting characters. The story is great, incredibly portraying disfunctional but realistic relationships between people. The black and white photography is beautiful. Mariel Hemmingway shines. The mostly pretty Diane Keaton looks ugly in that hairdo. And the start and end sequences with the shots from ny and the Gershwin music sent chills down my spine.
Der blaue Engel (1930)
Great good natured humor, twisted ending.
During the first half-hour of this film, the characters seem boring, silly and empty. Through it, they gain credibility and get deeper and more interesting. Most of this movie is well natured humor, but at one point it becomes a deeply disturbing drama. Best German movie I´ve seen to date.
