Well, it's more like a B-movie anyway
27 February 2001
It's a pretty good B-movie, I think. The whole movie is filled with a lot of "clichés" but we actually don't care too much. It's just good to see all the ingredients that made action movies from the eighties so great. Everything here is an old recipe that used to work very well. It doesn't work as good here but it's decent to watch. Like I said, the ending is terrible, it's like they throw everything at the same time and it's really too much. As a conclusion, not as bad as it looks.

Hollow Man (2000)
Good movie !
12 August 2000
I have to admit that I was happily surprised by "Hollow man". I think it was very difficult for Paul Verhoven to do this movie without showing the "clichés" related to the Invisible Man theme. The question is : what would you do if you were invisible ? Verhoven answers that question quite honestly and let Kevin Bacon go for his wildest sexual fantasm. And, that's what it's all about : "voyeurisme". The possibility of watching people in their deepest intimacy. At last, we have a sincere portrait of who could be an Invisible Man. Oh! By the way, the last 30 minutes of the movie are quite a dissapointment.

It's simply awful
14 January 2000
It becomes more and more difficult to watch James Bond movies because so many spoof have been made about the serie. After the release of "Austin Power", I almost quit watching Bond movies. I went to see TWINE and absolutely hated every minute of it. Even the opening scene which usually gives the tempo to the movie is awfully bad. The stunts are nothing new and Sophie Marceau is credited for probably the worst performance of her career. I have to give it a 1/10.

I don't want to talk about it !
13 September 1999
I really don't feel like talking about the movie because the movie makers and producers don't deserve it. It has been too much already about that movie and the more we talk about it, the more I feel like they are fooling us one more time. Enough of the biggest scam of this late century.

Mute Witness (1995)
A big surprise !
24 July 1999
Too good to be true. That's basically what I said to myself after 45 minutes of "Mute Witness". The suspense is built up like I've never seen before in a movie. It's absolutely brilliant. The camera movement, the timing and the music gives you a hell of a ride. Unfortunately, the movie doesn't keep its promise for the ending... it could have been the master movie of suspense.

La machine (1994)
You've got to admit, this is not a good movie.
8 July 1999
Since the movie was made in 1994, it's difficult to say that the plot was inspired by the brilliant movie "Face Off", made in 1997. Nevertheless, while you're watching the movie, you can't help thinking about the 1997 John Woo movie where the main character trade place with a dangerous killer. In both movies, the "bad guy" ends up sleeping with the "hero"'s wife, he threatens the "hero"'s wife and kid. They also switch lives where the hero ends up in jail (or asylum) and the bad guy enjoy a comfortable life in a beautiful house, next to the hero's wife and kid. "The Machine" doesn't have the juice of "Face Off" because they don't go deeply into everyone's personality and life. It seems like a shallow replicate of the John Woo movie without the special effects and cinematography. Good luck !

I am becoming a fan of Rohmer
30 March 1999
After watching "Claire's knee" which I personally adore, I was very impatient to discover another Eric Rohmer film. "Chloe in the afternoon" didn't disappoint me. As a matter of fact, I was captivated by the way E.R. puts his characters in interaction. It's unique to see how the scenes are put together and how E.R. makes you live the characters. I was really touched by this "moral tale".
