Disturbed (1990)
It is your duty to see this film.
26 June 2000
The importance of this film must not be underestimated. It was the first EVER time that Malcolm McDowell sported the 'futuristic' spiked hair-do. It has since become his acting trademark. It is the 10th anniversary of the famous hair-style, and you should show your respect by renting this film.

Mannequin (1987)
A Moving Experience
13 April 2000
Words cannot express the feelings that I get when I see this film. It is, without doubt, one of the best films of the 80's, (maybe even the 1900's). The performances by Andrew 'The Hair' McCarthy and Kim Cattrall ALONE warrant an immediate purchase of this film. But they are helped by the excellent script, which has numerous 'off-the-wall' comments that are so authentic because thats how people spoke in the 80's. The direction is a work of a genius, recalling Scorsese at the height of his powers. Whenever I see Hollywood hose down the cops at the end, I just cry. Plain and simple. Tears. I wish I had my own Mannequin that only I could see. That's the effect this film will have on you. Perhaps critics in the future will look back and re-evaluate this work of art. I am a lone profit on this, but I believe Mannequin will eventually be hailed as a film that revolutionized the 20th century. It's THAT zany.

Zero Effect (1998)
9/10
Brilliant!
13 April 1999
I had never heard of this film before spotting it at my video store. I sat down to watch it expecting something good, but not this good! Jake Kasdan is a talent to watch out for, he definitley follows in his Dad's footsteps.

It's a shame that franchises don't exist in the indie world, because the main character, Daryl Zero, deserves to get many many sequels.

This film is a 9 out of 10 because of a great character driven script, spot on acting by Bill Pullman, Ben Stiller, Kim Dickens and Ryan O'Neal and great ending that is absolutely un-hollywood.

Rhinoceros (1974)
Weird!
11 April 1999
OK, this is one weird film that I caught very late one night, I only decided to see it because it had Gene Wilder in it, who is one of the funniest men in history. I was totally surprised by how bizarre it was. The plot is about Zero Mostel and Gene Wilder talking and all these people turn into (unseen) rhinoceros'. Later on the story goes from zany comedy to mild horror as our 'heroes' try to stop themselves from turning into rhinoceros'...If you're in a good mood you could find some enjoyment out of this, but if you like your films straightforward then avoid this like the plague.

Mallrats (1995)
10/10
Brilliant

Following on from Clerks, Kevin Smith's sequel was initially reviled, and at one point Smith apologised for it. But reading present interviews he defends Mallrats, and so he should because it is a fine film, full of witty one liners and hilarious slapstick comedy. Compared to Chasing Amy and Clerks, it's not as mature, but is my personal favourite of the trilogy.
