Infamous D'Amato Porno Horror Flick
23 March 2000
There has been a lot of rumour about this one, considered the severe cuts the film has suffered in a variety of VHS versions. The uncut version is a very funny and edwoodesque porno horror flick with the Mark Shannon/Manlio Cersosimo (he looks like Harry Reems). The Santo Domingo locations are beautiful as usual all the character walking almost endlessly up and down the small island gives the film an hypnotical aura. Lucia Ramirez is simply beautiful and Dirce Funari has a great scene (if you like extreme cinema). As usual, don't watch this one if you're easily offended, but if you think you're an exploitation fan don't miss this Joe D'Amato masterpiece.

Lots of action and a funnier than usual Van Damme
24 August 1999
Jean-Claude van Damme belongs to that kind of popular hero you just can't dislike. The sequel to Universal Soldier is not exactly what you'd call a brilliant film, but it does deliver the goods it promises. Whether if these goods please your taste is another problem, but if you like films with lots of fights, explosions, heavy metal, Bill Goldberg and some gun hardware this could be a good one to watch with your friends on a rainy Saturday night.Nothing special, but there are definitely worse movies around... without Van Damme. A little above average...

Maybe the most extreme Joe D'Amato Movie!
13 August 1999
The fact is that Joe D'Amato pictures just aren't made for everyone's taste... once you accept this idea and IF you like italian exploitation flicks you won't be disappointed. Well, this film has been severely censored, but if you can get hold of an uncut copy you will see that the hype, for once, is absolutely true. Lots of graphic violence and hardcore sex (plus one scene with a horse...) make the uncut version of Tinto Brass' Caligola look like a tame R film. Truly disturbing, but D'Amato knows how to deliver the goods (and the performance of David Brandon is really good). Well, I'm not suggesting that anyone of you should go out and rent this film (if you can find it...), just those of you that are not easily offended by good bad taste. With Emanuelle in America one of the best D'Amatos ever! Rest in peace, Joe.

The Mummy (1999)

Old Mummy goes wild... once again
29 July 1999
Having seen the previous film of director Sommers, I expected at least a mild boring show such as Deep Rising. But The Mummy was worse. No characters, lots of bad digital fx and Brendan Fraser constantly throwing one liners, made the film one of the most disappointing films of this summer. I guess that good old Boris Karloff is desperately trying to raise from his sarcophagus to show Stephen Sommers what a good horror movie is all about. Well, let's wait for the unavoidable sequel and let's hope it will be better!
