Batman (1989)

Dark ? I like dark !
17 November 1999
I have to admit that I was quite sceptic about this movie, but after finally having seen it I have to say:Truly magnificent! This is by far the best Batman-thing ever caught on film.Better than any campy men-in-tights-TV-series,dumb spin off-cartoons or boring movie-sequels(I'm talking of the post-Burton ones). Burton is the only one who is able to create the dark, insane atmosphere that is needed for a Batman-movie.This movie recreates the original Batman -the vision of his creator- in a skillful and honest way. This film almost reminds me of a film-noir and definitely isn't the right stuff for people who like happy family-entertainment. The costumes and the make-up are brilliant,as well as the Bat-Toys.Furthermore we get to see one of the best villains ever, brought alive through the unbeatable performance of Jack Nicholson.Every minute with the Joker is superb. The only criticism is,that all the other characters(including Batman) get totally blasted away through his performance, which doesn't mean that Keaton did a bad job.As a Batman-movie it gets 10/10,as a movie compared to others it gets 8/10.

Can't help but laugh
31 October 1999
I know this film isn't Oscar-material,but it has this special something. It may be bad,but this cruel, sadistic coolness of the Marsians makes me laugh each time.In fact this film is very funny although there's nothing to laugh about. Just the right stuff to satisfy my bad taste!!

The Shining (1980)

Another Kubrick Masterpiece.Really redrumish!
13 September 1999
Yesss! Kubrick does it again. The Shining is a classic.I know that many people mind the slow beginnings of his movies, but this only helps the atmosphere. And we find plenty of atmosphere in this flick! Great music, locations, lights and of course the superb camera work(unbeatable!).Jack Nicholson is simply brilliant and adds even more to the quality of the movie. There are several scenes, which will stay in your mind because of their scary, insane and claustrphobic atmosphere.Especially Danny's shining-flashbacks with the little girls and the waves of blood are unbeatable. You can say what you want, but Kubrick movies always are something special! I highly recommend this movie to you, especially the uncut, long version. You also should try the Simpsons-version. 10/10

Superb
11 September 1999
I´ve seen Eyes Wide Shut this afternoon and I'm still totally stunned.I always thought Clockwork Orange would be Kubricks masterpiece and it still is,but this movie almost gets on a par with it.This movie totally absorbs you!I didn't turn my head away from the screen for the 160 minutes the movie was long. Colors, camera angles, screenplay, costumes and acting were on the highest level possible.Cruise's performance is absolutely superb.I didn't doubt on his character for a single second. Kidman is also great. Many people say it is slow paced and boring, but I think this movie has some great moments of huge suspense,as there are so many mysterious moments. Most people just didn´t understand this movie. The locations are fascinating. The cafes and the club had a very special atmosphere,as well as the houses.Kubrick just knew how to give his movies the best possible look. The story is simple and complex at the same time and the characters are sometimes surreal and sometimes totally near to real life. All in all this movie is a masterpiece of movie history and I recommend it to anyone who's matured enough to see it(which hasn't got anything to do with age,but with intelligence).I don't know the censored version, but I think you should try to see the european version. 10/10

A great way of humour!
10 September 1999
Pappa Ante Portas is a movie, you can watch over and over again and you´ll still love it.I´ve seen it about 10 times and I´m still rolling on the floor laughing.Loriot really has a wonderful way of humour and the movie is full of little details and intelligently made background gags. Apart from that, the acting is absolutely superb.Loriot and Evelyne Hamann really make the best(and the funniest) out of their characters! The best thing is,that the situations are very near to the real life and totally weird at the same time. This film is full of strange but wonderful humour and I recommend to everyone who wants to see some intelligent comedy. This movie is nothing for fans of no-brainer-flicks!

That one still rocks
2 August 1999
The Back To The Future Ride still truly rocks after all these years.Though it´s one of the older attractions of the Universal Studios and it isn´t as high tech as Terminator 2000,it still amazes you and it´s worthwhile to wait 20 minutes to get in.

Kids (1995)

That´s reality
1 August 1999
This movie surely is disturbing, but it´s well done. The dialogue isn´t bad or stupid, but authentic. Regarding the massive discussion about this movie and whether today´s Kids are really that way:Yes they´re that way.Not only in cities, but also in smaller towns.Everything shown in this movie is accurate. The reason why parents can´t believe this,is because the kids don´t tell them what they´re doing in their free-time.This movie is an honest description of (a big part of) today´s youth and everybody should have the chance to see it!

Terrible
1 August 1999
Oh my god! This flick is so terribly bad...it makes headache. It is awfully bad even for a soft-porn.Totally boring, without any plot and absolutely NOT sexy. The chicks don´t look good and the film hasn´t even got a bit of an atmosphere. Don´t watch it without a pillow to fall asleep after 5 minutes.

Interesting
1 August 1999
This one is surely the most interesting(and probably even the most intelligent)adult movie I´ve seen. The plot is very boring on some places, but the psychological aspects of the characters and the locations are stunning. It´s really a movie you can think about afterwards.Besides of that it´s really erotic. The atmosphere is very intense and the nude scenes have a great photography.Bondage and torture of naked women surely was a bit too hard in people´s stomach back in 1975 and it was banned in several countries. But believe it or not:You can see it in German TV from time to time(uncut)...this is unpossible with a X-rated film in other countries.
