I have read with dismay the number of reviews that have canned this movie. Comments such as "they've tried to make it more mainstream and it hasn't worked" etc. I thought this was a great STAR TREK episode and more like the weekly fair we came to love when it was on TV.
The story though is very dark and in some ways parallels the world today. It is not as uplifting as some current film titles and maybe this is why it has suffered at the box office. Many people have said there are plot gaps. Every Star Trek outing has plot gaps, you're supposed to take a leap of faith and just go along for the ride.
For entertainment value I gave it 8 out of 10. I was on the edge of my seat thoughout the last 45 mins of the film. This maybe the end for now....but then ...there are "always possibilities!"
