Not bad
27 August 2000
This is the first Halloween movie i have seen not bad Michael Myers is quite good now and then a bit scary and Dr Loomis is back hunting down Michael Myers. The story is Michael Myers has escaped from the hospital that keeps crazy people and killers and now is after his young niece and kills who ever gets in his way. The gas station scene is cool and so is when his niece looks at herself in the mirror and sees Michael Myers as a boy.Halloween 4 is quite a good horror film so i give it 7 out of 10.

Once again Riggs and Murtaugh are back in this explosive sequel
2 July 2000
If you liked the first one you will love Lethal weapon 2 non stop action great car chases shootouts and comedy. The villains are good played by Joss Ackland and Derrick O Conner who play South African diplomats that are up to no good . Riggs and Murtaugh soon get involved in the case when they are given the job of babysitting Leo Getz who laundered the South Africans money.I give Lethal weapon 2 8 out of 10.

18 May 2000
Same Old thing rely bunch of critters people trapped in a building with no weapons some people get eaten critters get killed end of story not bad for a sequel.I wish more people got eaten like in critters 2 but you can not expect real gore from a 15.15 for some violence and occasional swearing.

Critters (1986)
WHO SAID GREMLINS WAS BETTER?
7 May 2000
Often compared unfavourably with Gremlins, Critters is to my mind a more enjoyable film. The film moves between horror and comedy. The galactic bounty hunters who are sent to destroy the Critters(escaped criminals from a prison asteroid)are played deadpan which adds to the humour. The bounty hunters are over zealous when it comes to the use of their weapons and the shoot up of a bowling alley is a nice touch. The local drunkard Charlie is the kind of stock character that appears in comedy westerns of the John Wayne variety and is well transposed to the modern day. The long coats worn by the bounty hunters is reminiscent of those worn in "Once Upon a Time in the West".I would certainly give this film 8 out of 10.

Gore never better
6 May 2000
Starship Troopers is quite a gory movie people getting there legs, arms and even their heads ripped off by huge alien bugs wonderful stuff if you like that kind of thing. Many planets have been taken over by human eating arachnids.Huge armies of soldiers kill as many arachnids as possible leaving more dead people than arachnids Johnny Rico and two friends join up to the army and experience war at its worst.Paul Verhoeven uses similar music from Robocop and they same type of gore that wants you to go yuck and at the same time laugh.

3 May 2000
The human eating Krites are back in town and so is Scott Grimes from the first movie . Brad has come to visit his grandmother in his old town where the krites first terrorised him and his family trouble soon occurs when a new batch of krites start eating people. Good entertainment and mild gore.

Horror at its best
19 April 2000
The best thing about IT is Pennywise the clown played by Tim Curry he's sometimes scary and his lines are good too.The moving photographs are cool and also the bursting blood balloons.I have seen Salems Lot and the tommyknockers but IT is the best so far even if it s over 3 hours long.

18 April 2000
Well this one sure has gore from the beginning to the end.A group of scientists clone Riply to get the alien back. At the end I expect they wish they hadn't.The characters are not bad, the movie itself is ok but not as good as Aliens.7 out of 10.

An ok cop comedy
15 April 2000
Not many shootouts no car chases but a few funny bits ok doesn't sound like the best film ever but its not that bad. Bob Hoskins plays detective Jack Mooney one night he has a heart attack and has to have a heart transplant sadly for him the heart of his worst enemy is the only one available.

Jaws 3-D (1983)
Better than Jaws 4
14 April 2000
Jaws 3 is not a bad movie sure its a bit boring in some parts but the end is good.Sadly not many of the main characters get eaten accept for Simon Macorkindale that has a gross death. The shark looks scary but fake the characters are ok at least there better than in Jaws 4 7 out of 10.

The Train (1964)
Burt's still as physical as ever
10 April 2000
Burt was 50 when he made this film but was still as athletic as ever he was in the golden days of the Crimson Pirate. A man graceful in movement and a pleasure to watch. Where was Nick Cravat one can ask? Paul Scofield makes a superb German officer who cares more for art than the French railway people he so casually has shot for standing in his way. The decision not to use colour was an excellent one and adds to the realism. The plans put into effect by Burt and his comrades to prevent the French art treasures from reaching the Fatherland are edge of the seat stuff.

Child's Play (1988)
Good for a laugh
12 February 2000
Child's Play is one of those movies that after the first time gets a little tiring but i am not saying it is not a good movie.Killer Charles Lee Ray converts his soul into a red haired doll while dying from being shot in a shootout by cop Mike Norris. All 6 year old Andy Barclay wants for his birthday is a good guys doll when his mum buys him one of a street seller Andy could not be more happy until he finds out his doll is alive and uses the name of Chucky short for Charles Lee Ray.When the baby sitter that is looking after Andy is killed no one expects Chucky until he attacks Andy's mum.As Chucky goes around killing everyone that betrayed him when he was alive Andy's mum and cop Mike Norris try to find away of killing Chucky before he finds Andy.15 for a little bit of gore and swearing. High Noon (1952)
A Man Has To Do What A Man Has To Do
12 February 2000
Remembered as much for the title song sung by Tex Ritter as for Gary Cooper's stirling performance, High Noon ranks among the best westerns of all time. Essentially, the story of small town marshal Will Kane who having wed a quaker and planning a new life away from violence has to choose between leaving town with his bride or staying to face possible death at the hands of an avenging outlaw and his gang. The leader of the gang is due to arrive on the noon train, hence the title of the film. The story unfolds in real time and this adds extra tension to the developments as Coop waits for the showdown. Those who Kane had expected to give him support, gradually desert him and he is left to face the gang alone. Kane's wife(Grace Kelly), although totally opposed to violence, saves him by shooting one of the gang(stalwart bad guy Bob Wilke)during the shootout. The final scene shows Coop controversially throwing his tin star onto the ground watched by the gathering townsfolk. Memorable performances also from Katy Jurado, Lloyd Bridges in an early role, Lon Chaney Junior not in monster disguise this time and Thomas Mitchell.

Shane (1953)
Alan Ladd walks tall
5 February 2000
What Alan Ladd lacked in physical stature he made up for in a superb performance as the mysterious gunfighter who befriends homesteader Joe Starratt's(Van Heflin) family. From the majestic opening scenes of the beautiful Wyoming countryside to the very finish, this is a magnificent western. The basic story is not an unusual one for this genre. The Ryker brothers have reared cattle in the area for many years and object to families claiming land to set up homesteads. The Rykers' policy of violence against them is brought to a brief halt by the intervention of Shane. Sadistic gunfighter Jack Wilson(played memorably by Jack Palance) is hired to redress the situation but Shane proves that he is the faster on the draw in the inevitable showdown. The story is given extra impetus by having the young son of Joe Starratt playing a pivotal role. Young Joey grows to worship Shane and this is an important aspect of the tale. The final scene has Joey calling to Shane to come back as Shane decides that the only thing he can do is to move on. "There is no living with a killing" he tells Joey(not only has he despatched Jack Wilson but also the Rykers in the final shootout). The audience of course understands that the affection that has developed between Shane and Joe Starratt's wife(played by Jean Arthur) is an important factor in his decision. Like all good heroes, Shane makes the selfless choice).
