Warning--spoiler!

Warning: Spoilers
I have mixed feelings about this film...it was terribly, graphically, violent, and the Friday the 13th ending left me cold, but aside from those two huge problems the film was interesting, and worth renting on DVD or video when it's released in your area. John Cusack was excellent, as were most of the ensemble cast. The twist was impressive...still, for all the creativity in the script, why couldn't the ending have been less cliche?! 6/10

The Pianist (2002)

This is Roman Polanski's best film to date.

I don't want to trivialize the subject by analyzing the film; suffice it to say that, lest we forget the destructive power of prejudice and bigotry, we should not be apathetic in the face of genocide no matter where it occurs in the world. We are all fellow human beings--our differences will always be less significant than that essential truth--we are as one people on this planet. Therefore, whatever horror you visit on someone you also bring onto yourself.

This movie is a wild ride from start to finish!

Although 80-some people have already commented on this film I had to add my voice to the mix, since it seems that most critics have missed the point--this is an action movie people!

I didn't go to the theatre expecting to see _Schindler's List_, I went for a mindless good time, and that is exactly what I got (if the goofy grin on my face is any evidence, and after 2 hours of grinning my face was blissfully sore.)

Not only is this movie worth paying full fare to see just for the action thrills, it's worth owning on DVD, so when it's released I will be buying it, to enjoy again, and again, and again...can you deal with that?!

Tumbleweeds (1999)
What an introduction to Janet McTeer--her charisma cannot be contained!
16 May 2000
I urge all film lovers to see -Tumbleweeds-. The relatively unknown cast, director and screenwriter(s) blew me away! This film is a gift of fantastic proportions wrapped in plain, brown paper, so tear into it and see what's awaiting you beyond the simple plot of serial-monogamist mother and almost-fully-teenaged daughter fleeing the scene of yet another bad breakup, and heading West to find a new home. I was gripped by Janet McTeer's powerful performance, and unusual character, from the first scene. I cannot imagine anyone not being similarly bowled over. The supporting cast will also surprise and delight you--why can't all young actors be as natural as Kimberly Brown? Rent it today! :-)

Surprisingly wonderful!

Having seen this movie for free, and for no other reason, since I'm not a Kevin Costner fan, I was gratefully surprised by this movie--it was a pleasure to watch! I am not a typical baseball fan either, but I grew up playing the game, and I love it! This movie is the best baseball movie I've ever seen! However, you do not have to be familiar with the game to *get* this movie--I saw it with a fellow who knows absolutely nothing about baseball (he's a cricket fan), and he loved it, too! Plus, the romantic story in the film isn't bad ;-) It is so nice to see Kelly Preston in a leading role! I can't imagine anyone not enjoying this movie!
