Catherine the Great (2019)
Boring
I got HBO just to watch this. Wow, it was so bad. So boring. The only way I got through episode 1 was looking at the costumes.
Goliath (2016)
Season 2
WOW. Season 1 was tremendous. I gave it a 9 and really, really enjoyed it! Season 2 was crap. If I wanted to watch "Dexter" that is what I would watch. You rarely even saw Billy and crew and the plot line was horrible. I agree that they need to get the season 1 writers back. I won't even bother with season 3 if they don't.
The OA (2016)
Could have been....
I made it through the first 2 episodes and was going to drop it BUT my husband wanted to watch the entire thing. I gave a huge sigh and agreed. By the end of episode 7 I thought there were a few interesting threads of the story. A lot of was so disjointed and never made clear or even muddy for that matter. I understand the people who said it made you examine PTSD and dealing with trauma in your life but so much of it made no sense what-so-ever. I realized from the get go that would end on some note of "it was all a story, fabrication of a mentally ill person's mind. I also thought they would "hopefully" leave you puzzled as to whether that was the case or if it really did happen.
What they did in episode 8 was just ridiculous. Stupid beyond belief AND just trashy and sick. That school shooting bit was so major out of place...so unconnected to anything in the story line. It just came out of no where and was so ill-conceived..ruined the entire show...BIG TIME. I gave it 5 stars for being mildly interesting.
Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life (2016)
Very, Very Disappointing
This was such a huge disappointment. I am a true Gilmore Girls fan and was so excited to see this. I am not sure how I made it through the entire 4 episodes. There was SO much wasted time on inane garbage. I really could not believe they did all that Stars Hollow Play crap in the 3rd episode...I was dumbfounded...and bored beyond belief. Yes, every now and then you caught a little glimpse of the original Gilmore Girls but mostly it was just everyone looking highly uncomfortable and out of place. I even got a little uncomfortable watching everyone struggle to get back into their roles. Lorelai and Rory did okay. Emily, Paris and Logan were the best. This was so, so sad.
Basil (1998)
Potential, but poorly done.
I watched this film at home this week. Made it through the whole movie without falling asleep. This film has the worst editing job I have ever seen. Really chopped up. The cast was good, the acting creditable, even the story line had potential but the directing was awful. Someone took a good story, some great actors and made a really poor movie. Too bad.
