Resident Evil (2022)
C'mon, it's good fun
Watch a couple episodes yourself and see what you think. I *am* an RE fan though not a gamer. Didn't go in with a bunch of expectations, binged before looking at its IMDB rating. Thoroughly entertained. Don't let the purist babies' reviews stop you from giving it a shot!
No Activity: It's Not a Cult! (2021)
A new layer
Nice work taking a chance on animation (and surprising the crap out of some fans apparently). A lot of work to animate, to try something new to see what could happen. No idea if the whole season will be like this. Same main characters plus Will Forte, same level of funny writing move the show in an interesting direction. Let's see what happens.
Be Cool, Scooby-Doo! (2015)
By far the freshest series incarnation since the original
The 1969 TV series was instantly my favorite Saturday morning fare until realizing at that young age that the boogie man was predictably the person who stood to gain the most by lack of humans around the haunted venue.
Fast-forward past various reboots, animated and live-action movies, the gang finally built up the oeuvre to allow the kind-of-self-aware Mystery Incorporated, another excellent series.
Then Be Cool. What with the skinny legs and apparent plastic surgery, I kept with it for Frank W.'s continued efforts and Kate M.'s addition to the cast. It grew on me and now it's a favorite series. The writing, the character interaction, the on-screen action - all these contribute to the fun. Personalities are amped up a little too - Daphne is more of a character this time instead of just being Fred's implied girlfriend.
Seuwiteuhom: Episode 3 (2020)
9/10
Rating based on personal enjoyment rather than critical analysis. Third episode into first season reveals character, especially from mother with imaginary infant. Infection trope is turned on its ear. Monsters move about the frame, interacting with characters and sets realistically enough, though they're various degrees of cheesy CGI. Scenes so far are character-driven; waiting to see how the story shapes up. If you're not into this after 3 episodes it may not be your bag.
Pig Goat Banana Cricket (2015)
Another opinion for ya
Oh boy, what to say? The show kind of grows on you, though there's more style than (relatable) substance. The characters maintain their personalities from episode to episode, the art is consistently psychedelic, reminiscent of 1930's toons. There are no story arcs, no real real-life lessons to learn. Not your typical kid fare, some gross-outs but nothing taboo. Why 8 stars? It's different (bizarre). The creators tried. It's gross on a kid's level, so why not
