Star Trek: Nemesis (2002)
In the top five for best Star Trek movies
DON'T LISTEN TO CRITICS. This was a fun and entertaining movie. It was done in the true spirit of any GOOD action movie let alone a Star Trek movie. I admit I am a true Star Trek fan but in 1998 I found myself wondering why I was in the theatre watching Star Trek: Insurrection so I like to think I am a bit more critical than your average Trekker. Star Trek: Nemesis is very entertaining and engrossing. The story was well done with excellent special effects and a good solid script. They say they cut out about an hour of this film. I can't wait for the DVD.
GO SEE THIS MOVIE. BRING YOUR KIDS AND HAVE SOME FUN.
P.S. note the references in the movie to James T. Kirk and Jonathan Archer (Enterprise-T.V.) - Enjoy!
Murder in Small Town X (2001)
Overall, worth the weeks spent figuring out the whodunit.
There have been some harsh critics of this show. To anyone who has done an 'at home' murder mystery or been to a special murder mystery night dinner theatre, this was great!
Although the actors were very limited on what they could say which made them very cardboard the clues and plot twists were excellent in the true tradition of a good mystery.
In this reality show the people have something to do. Not sit around on a beach and bitch or in a backyard and bitch at each other. Bravo to Fox for making this show. I hope they keep doing it.
My next trip out east I will visit the small town of Sunrise (Eastport) Maine.
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001)
Funny, but not Kevin Smith at his best.
I went to see this movie with eager anticipation. For the most part the movie delivered, however Kevin Smith is a much better writer than this. Many of the Gags are hilarious and the cameos are brilliant (Carrie Fisher scene just about did me in), but it wasn't as great as I thought it might be.
Would I see it again...yes.
Charlie's Angels (2000)
This is a fun movie worth seeing twice.
Well all the bad press about conflict on the set and the script re-writes have payed off. This is a very tongue-in-cheek action movie. The cast played very well with each other, the soundtrack is excellent and musical snipettes in different scenes had me belly laughing. This was the first movie in a long time that had me so engrossed that I forgot I was sitting with four friends. We got to the movies to be entertained and Charlie's Angels scores high the the entertainment scale.
Dogma (1999)
Bravo Kevin Smith!
It takes alot of guts to write a movie like this. I tip my hat to Kevin Smith. This movie is very funny and VERY educational. It pokes fun at the "bible thumpers" out there that are religious just to be religious without getting the idea. Personally I learned alot from this movie and I see why American studios didn't have the guts to distribute this movie and I'm proud that Lion's Gate did. This is a movie you'll see and see again to catch dialog you missed. Kevin Smith is a master at mixing 'in your face humour' with subtle humour. This movie comes highly recommended.
