Bathing (2004)
A spiritual and symbolic black-and-white short film...
Bathing is a spiritual and symbolic black-and-white short film by independent filmmaker Julija Naskova. The filmmaker's use of music and sound effects adds, rather than detracts, to the viewer's overall experience. The filmmaker's message is conveyed through graceful images which are cut together skillfully. The simple act of combing one's hair is presented as an art form; something that is more form than function. The actress' long hair is portrayed here as it has been in art and literature throughout history: directly linked to her femininity and beauty. Women will most likely understand the layered meanings of this film more so than men, but all viewers will appreciate its tranquility and beauty.
Cabin Fever (2002)
THE WAY HORROR SHOULD BE DONE. (Finally, a tribute to old-school horror!)
Put simply, it's about FREAKIN' TIME.
I had just about given up on the horror genre -- too many years of "Jason XXVIII" and too many teen soundtrack vehicles had come and gone for me to pay attention. I can list on one hand the horror films that ACTUALLY scared me: The ORIGINAL Friday the 13th, the ORIGINAL Halloween, the ORIGINAL Texas Chainsaw Massacre, etc. -- see a pattern here?
Hollywood had forgotten a simple lesson: LESS IS MORE. You DON'T need a $45 million budget, half an hour of CGI, and a soundtrack featuring MTV's Buzz Bin / TRL to make a decent horror film. Whatever happened to woods? Whatever happened to country folk and stillwater ponds? A big THANK YOU goes out to Mr. Eli Roth for giving today's X-Box brats a healthy dose of what they'd been missing for years: old-school horror. Do yourself a favor and see this gem when it hits the screen -- you won't be disappointed.

Léolo (1992)
A heartwarming yet powerful coming-of-age story...
This is a heartwarming yet powerful coming-of-age story about a boy named Leolo, spawned by accident from a bizarre union between an Italian villager, a tomato, and a fat woman!
Although he's a thin, almost sickly underdog of a kid, Leolo's spirit surpasses all.
Warning: When it comes to "discovering ones' sexuality," American Pie has NOTHING on this movie!
