U Turn (1997)
Twisted with capital T!
9 December 2001
A deeply twisted film containing Oliver Stone's trademark sense of humour and vision. Sean Penn is terrific and the supporting cast are outstanding too. Jennifer Lopez is the only one who isn't up to the job! Not a classic Oliver Stone movie but still worth watching. Some of the characters are a bit over the top but within the context of the film they serve their purpose. " ask yourself are you a human being or a hungry ghost? "

Enjoyable feast of a film!

Before I saw this film I was warned that the film contains quite a few explicit sexual ideas and images but I have to say that I found the film to be a beautiful romantic .It isn't a conventional romance ,rather extreme if I dare to say,but nevertheless you can easily identify yourself with some of the scenes.Me personally would categorise this film as an Atmospheric Romantic.quite self-explanatory!

Amateurish but charmful.

This is a movie of two halves, first half in Ireland and the second half in sweden, which implies the purpose of the film is two-fold. Firstly it could be seen as a comparison between two cultures.A study in human nature. It shows that although the customs are different(clothes, music taste, food and so on) the basic human emotions are the same non-the-less. Secondly the film deals with these feelings. It portrays both sides of the coin.It shows how these emotions could be manipulated and turned into an item of fascination for other people(pop video...) and how also they could transcend borders, cultures, shackles imposed by society and so on to create something beautiful(friendship of Danny and Finbar, relationship of Abbi and Danny...). On the sideline it also suggests to you to go out and discover the world, ENJOY THE SNOW AND FRESH AIR!

Weird!

This is one of those movies which many people will dislike. You want to know why?Because to begin with the acting is awful,it makes you cringe. The soundtrack is not that much better either and to be frank with you there is no plot! But you know what,I recommend every one of you to see this movie. This is one of those movies in which the acting skills of the crew and even the craft of the director is irrelevent,as long as it is half- decent which it is in this case. What drives this film forward is the subject of the film and the message it tries to convey. It's openness is it's strength meaning that the conclusion of it is subjective as opposed to objective(eg. DEER HUNTER).Each person will experience it uniquely. In my case what i understood was that each person has a designated partner in life(his/her angel) which will bring true happiness and unless you have found your match you will never discover pure bliss.you might ask how could we find our partners? well, you don't have to do anything.YOUR ANGEL WILL HELP YOU!
