I hope that after this movie the true Ejzensteijn is going to resurrect and haunt the director for the rest of his life. I could not believe it: the biografic story about the best russian director ever existed, shot by a canadian director, with english-speaking actors in the true scenes of Russia! May I say anything else????????

Two handsome guys waste their lives with dope and heroin and many other drugs, a young beautiful girl becomes a dirty slut, a lonely mother becomes an amphetamine addict whose only perspective is to survive in some electric impulses on a tv screen ???? This is the falsest movie on addictions and drugs ever made, but it's easy to understand why young people are appreciating it so much.

Some people cannot stand this movie 'cause they pretend characters to be more round, but simply they're seen and told in Willy's way and he can't know all or he doesn't want to tell all. Mazzacurati is indeed a pearl in italian contemporary cinema. Wonderful locations and cinematography and wonderful music by Ivano Fossati.

Mazzacurati is perhaps, with Soldini and Amelio, one of the best directors in Italy, but not enough known out of his country. This production has all the characteristics of a full-screen movie, in dramatic times, cinematography, editing. It's worth seeing, you will see a wonderful Italy, not a postcard of it. And you can forget pizza, and spaghetti.

I'm sorry, this is not new neorealism. It is not the place to take a lesson about neo-neo-Realism, but we have some difficults even in defining neo-Realism. This movie is for sure more symbolist than realistic, with its "hyeratic" characters and its dilatation of dramatic times. However it's a masterpiece for those who love mountain-movies: they will find a powerful reflection on human nature, supported by Franz Schubert's Adagio taken from streichquintett D956. And they will love it.

I saw this movie in Turin Film-festival last November, and I hope it's coming soon on "regular" screens. I was emotionally moved because story and cast remembered me the true story of a friend of mine, whose mom died a few times ago. The plot escape from gender clichés and the characters are round and well performed. Andreef shows her skillness in directing, learned collaborating with Jane Campion for several times. But she also shows how far their views can be distant, moreover if you compare this movie to Campion's last one.

I can' t believe that people that vote everyday recent movies have not seen this. The simplicity of this one shot movie is supplied by the dept of origins pan-focus. Some young people might forget Tarantino & c. for a while, and re-discover the magic of earlier cinema, in a minute only.
