8 Mile (2002)
great song, excellent Eminem, OK movie
6 out of 10 - OK, I love the title song. It ties in perfectly with the movie. And Eminem proves to be a serious, and surprisingly good actor. But all in all the movie didn't really grab me. It had good character development, but it also had parts that were just stretched too far... it could have explored the character even farther, even deeper...
Well, it was certainly a great debut for Eminem as an actor!
Ghost Ship (2002)
the first 5 minutes are cool, the rest is trash
4 out of 10 - The ironic beginning sequence isn't bad, the rest is. Very much so even. When I saw the trailer I thought "Wow, how cool, a modern ghost ship movie". Well, I did get the modern ghost ship movie and wished it could have been an old, good, funny and scary ghost ship movie. But it just just a dull, uninspired and predictable boat trip.
AVOID IT, IF YOU CAN!
Hackers (1995)
entertaining...
6 out of 10 Hackers is an entertaining movie. It was one of the first "computer thrillers". Well, not all hackers are "cyber punks" and not all script kiddies are actually hackers, maybe crackers.
If you know a little something about networks, computers, protocolls and Unix, then it upsets you that in such movies all the hacking is displayed with 3D graphics, big red "ACCESS DENIED" signs flashing up on the screen... That's all bogus. Why not just show it as it is: A plain telnet unix shell.
Oh well, for all the casual movie goers it has to be made understandable...
After all, an entertaining little film
WarGames (1983)
A true (back then) realistic computer thriller
8 out of 10 A great movie. A true computer thriller, wonderfully made. Much better than "Hackers" or "Swordfish". If you like this one and can understand German, then watch the really good and realistic German computer thriller "23", I know you'll like it :)
Der Seewolf (1971)
Fascinating!
10 out of 10 - This is truly one of the best adventure movies (or mini series) ever made. The performance is so real, so gripping, so great! I've only seen it once and that was years ago, but it still had such a great impact on me. Please release it on DVD one day!
DON'T MISS IT!
The Tuxedo (2002)
poor jackie chan, Jennifer Love Hewitt ruined this little movie
4 out of 10 This movie had a good concept, an idea that could have worked. If it just wouldn't have been for the annoying I-am-a-sexy-woman-but-still-tough-and-funny Jennifer Love Hewitt. She ruined this little flick. The scenes with Jackie alone are all pretty funny. But as soon as Hewitt tries to be funny it all goes down the drain... What a pity!
Better go watch Rush Hour again!
Signs (2002)
the new century's "Birds" and "Night of the Living Dead" with aliens
9 out of 10 This is basically a mix of "The Birds" and "Night of the Living Dead" without birds and without zombies, but with freaky aliens and a lot more humor. I really like this movie and I think I've seen it about 5 times already. It is very well acted, with a great Mel Gibson and a remarkable Joaquin Phoenix. An outstanding scene in terms of acting is the scene where Mel Gibson is confronted with the guy who accidently killed his wife (played by the director - I still can neither pronounce nor spell his name) because he fell asleep in the car. The sadness and the anger on Mel Gibson's face is amazing.
DON'T MISS IT!
Catch Me If You Can (2002)
Good entertainment with a great DiCaprio
8 out of 10 To cut it short: This is a really good movie worth watching. It is based on a true story, the story of Frank W. Abagnale (www.abagnale.com) You should visit his website and read his thoughts about the book and the movie. Of course things are dramatized, but that doesn't make it a bad movie. And just because most women love "Leo", it doesn't make him a bad actor, he's actually an outstanding artist.
DON'T MISS IT!
Killers (1996)
don't waste your time on this garbage
1 out of 10 OK people, not all indie movies are cool, just because they're bad. And not all movies that most people think are bad, are just misunderstood and a secret masterpiece. Granted, there are such cases, but this is not one of them. The interesting twist that this movie COULD have HAD, totally failed.
Although I think that the end of the first Resident Evil movie was inspired by the end of "Killers", or maybe "Killers" was just inspired by the Resident Evil videogames...
In any case, if you want to add a comment to this movie, then watch it, otherwise: DON'T!
Memento (2000)
Nolan is a genius! A masterpiece!
10 out of 10 This is one of my alltime favorites. It is so well done, so unique, so interesting, so........ GREAT! Guy Pearce's finest hour!
DON'T MISS IT!
American Beauty (1999)
A masterpiece!
10 out of 10 This movie is a masterpiece. It is wonderfully acted, directed, written and scored. It is funny, it is touching, it is emotional and it makes you think. It makes you look closer.

Interstate 60: Episodes of the Road (2002)
Hilarious refreshing comedy with depth
10 out of 10 It's refreshing to see something new from Bob Gale, the man who brought us Back to the Future. This movie shows his potential once again.
He brings us a very refreshing comedy/drama/fantasy/road-movie mix that proves once more that comedy doesn't equal stupidity (although it can, when it's well done, like Rat Race, Dumb and Dumber or Something about Mary).
It is full of surprises and features an excellent Gary Oldman and an hilarious Chris Cooper.
DON'T MISS IT!
Rat Race (2001)
"Man, this is Hitler's car!"
Hilarious!
I was watching this movie with my wife and it is extremely funny and hilarious! We haven't been laughing so much for a long time! Go and watch it and the "Hitler's car" scene is an instant classic!
Great!
Jurassic Park III (2001)
what took them 4 years for this one?
I was very disappointed by JP3. The special effects were great, but the movie didn't have a plot, didn't have a story to it. Ok, the boy is lost on the island, but they find him after the first couple of minutes. So, what is left? The thrilling, very creative and interesting task of.... reaching the coast. They meet a couple of dinosaurs on the way and hardly anyone gets killed. No background story. They tried to make it interesting by the fact that the raptors can talk to each other, but they never really used it. The raptors just looked at each other, screamed a little, and ran off. The movie had hardly any suspense. And it ended too quickly. There was no highpoint or anything. They reached the coast and the movie was over.
I was very disappointed and so was my wife.
If they make a JP4 they should give a really interesting plot, like set it 100 years in the future and there's a Jurassic Park in every major city, or Dinosaurs are used as working-animals and revolt or something. There are so many possibilities, but JP3 didn't use any of them.
The only thing I liked was the "ringing" Dinosaur. That was funny.
Drop Dead Fred (1991)
An HILARIOUS comedy! For every age!
This is one of the most hilarious movies ever made! I had tears in my eyes because I was laughing so hard! It is a great movie for kids, but a much better one for adults! Hilarious! A must-see!
