Murder Rooms: Mysteries of the Real Sherlock Holmes: The Dark Beginnings of Sherlock Holmes: Part 1 (2000)
My comments
I watched this two part bbc drama and thoroughly enjoyed it. It features on Arthur Conan Doyle's relationship with Dr Joseph Bell (Richardson). Some of the scenes are gruesome. But there is a lot of Holmes background within it. There are 2 main things I will draw your attention to, 1) Doyle gives Richardson his fathers watch to deduce from, this was used by doyle in the Holmes novel "Sign of 4" and 2) in the second part someone gives a girl a box containg a pair of severed ears, this was again used by Doyle in the Holmes short story "The Cardboard Box"
The Crucifer of Blood (1991)
My Comments
For a story that is LOOSELY based on the Sign of Four. It is enthralling. I almost fell out my seat when the women shot Watson. But apart from some of the sets looking like it was filmed on a theatre stage it was good
The Sign of Four (1983)
my comment
This is the first of the two Richardson Sherlock Holmes stories This again is a faithful adaption of the story. I enjoy watching this as some of the stunts are well filmed including the thames boat chase.
The Hound of the Baskervilles (1983)
My comments
This is one of the best Adaptations of Hound I have seen. Although it does not follow the book it is still enjoyable. The assassination of Sir Henry is done well.
