Truly a rare gem
16 March 2004
This is a very intense movie about love, hate, life and death with a lot of symbolism and realism at the same time. The plot is located in the early 70ies in Amsterdam and features Monique van de Ven and Rutger Hauer who give a really great performance. The supporting actors are also very well chosen and there are no lengthy parts in the story that can make you laugh and cry at the same time.

There are few movies that are able to create an atmosphere that intense. But be warned - this movie polarizes - either you love it or you hate it.

I'll rate it a 9 out of 10.

really boring b/w thriller with a lot of stars
17 May 2003
A lot of people gather in a hotel in San Remo to attend the local pop festival. When the owner of a music company is murdered, there are a lot of suspects. Will inspector Forbesa be able to solve the mystery?

This is a really bad 60's b/w thriller. It has a weird and boring plot and the whole movie only plays in a hotel in San Remo (It could be anywhere, as you don't see anything else as the interieur of the hotel). At the end of this movie, you are not even interested anymore who commited the crime. It is astonishing that this movie features a lot of the stars of the time like Joachim Fuchsbergerm Karin Dor, Monika Peitsch, Renate Ewert, Wolfgang Kieling and others.

Stay away from this movie, I'll rate it a 2 out of 10.

nice german b/w thriller like the "Stahlnetz" series
22 April 2003
This is one of the good german b/w thrillers from the 60'ies. It has a nice plot and features a lot of german movie and tv stars of this time like Walter Rilla, Joseph Offenbach, Günther Ungeheuer, Monika Peitsch and many others. "Vier Schlüssel" reminds of the sixties tv series "Stahlnetz" which was made by the same director Jürgen Roland. If you liked "Stahlnetz" and other german b/w thrillers chances are good that you will also enjoy this one.
