Born on the Fourth of July (1989)
Disrespectful to those who sacrificed
I can't help to think that this movie is anti-American. It tries to paint the Vietnam veterans as stupid and not as the heroes they really are. They fought in the name of freedom; most of us can't say that.
We keep forgetting that the Vietnam war was fought to stop the spread of communism: an ideology that rapes people and their freedom.
It is sad. Many veterans have given everything so that we can enjoy the greatest country in the world, but we want to somehow say that it is not a great country. Where else can you live in such freedom and have so much opportunity?
Go somewhere else and then count your blessings. American is a great country built on many great principles. We have made mistakes, but we are correcting a lot of them -- and I can't say that so much of other countries.
I think this movie leans toward propaganda. I am proud of our Vietnam vets.
The movie is overrated. Though I do enjoy Cruise and Dafoe as actors.
When will our society be revived and realize we live in the best country in the world? I don't buy in to the rubbish Stone spews in this movie.
Hollywood is 99.9% rubbish. Anyone who buys its revisionist history needs to get educated.
Eyes Wide Shut (1999)
My Dog Leaves This Stuff Out in the Back Yard
My dog leaves better looking stuff out in the yard after he finishes his Gaines Burgers.
Movie was slow, boring, had no plot, and was just a bad B-sexploitation film.
Nicole Kidman has to be among the worst actresses out there.
Don't waste your money on this one. And don't pretend you're deep and find hidden meanings that only your enlightened mind can find -- if that's the case, you aren't deep, you're just knee deep in what my dog leaves out in the back yard!
The Cider House Rules (1999)
Sad and Sick
This movie was soooooooooo transparent. I really think it was trying to say that it is often better to abort children than to choose the adoption alternative. HOW SICK!!!!!! I am encouraged by all the viewers who saw through this trash.
A very immoral film and a waste of time.
Men at Work (1990)
A Classic
The Estevez Brothers (or is it the Sheen brothers) are great together. Funny story, great sarcasm. You'll laugh the whole way through.
I always thought Charlie Sheen was great in his sarcastic, "screw the world", tongue-in-cheek comedic roles. Emilio is equally as good.
If you can't appreciate then unpucker that butt-hole of yours and loosen up, Movie Snob!!!!!!!
Gotta love that Pizza Guy, too.
A Night at the Roxbury (1998)
Really funny flick
Movie was hilarious. Characters were great. I will definitely rent this one again; probably will buy the DVD (once I get a DVD player!)
Some people take things way too seriously. If you carry the world on your shoulders, don't see this movie. I loved it but then again, I am 37 years old and like the WWF..............
Sixteen Candles (1984)
A Teen Classic
This movie is a teen classic. Right up there with "Pump Up the Volume", "Breakfast Club", "Weird Science", and "Real Genius".
Molly Ringwald rules! I love these type of movies.
You know another good one is "Ferris Bueller's Day Off". Real Good.
You can write me off as some bubble gum movie fan. But, hey, my favorite all time movie is "Sunset Boulevard".
Sunset Blvd. (1950)
True Genius
This movie is true genius. The fantastic and intriguing opening scene, the deep story line, and even the similarities between the characters and the real life people who play them make for one of the greatest movies of all time.
This is a must see! Gloria Swanson is fantastic; William Holden is as well.
