This documentary was sooo great to see! It tells the story of the Brooklyn Dodgers of the 1940s and 1950s. Its not just about a sports team, but also the effect the team had on Brooklyn and America itself in those post war years.

In 1955 the Dodgers would win their only World Series title in Brooklyn. Ebbets field by this time was decaying and Walter O'Malley was trying to lobby the city of New York for a new state-of-the-art ballpark in Brooklyn. Robert Moses who pretty much was responsible for what was built in New York city in those years wanted the stadium to be in Queens but O'Malley would not hear of it so he decided in the end to go west to Los Angeles.

All in all this is a great sports documentary about a legendary baseball team that so epitomized hope in post World War II America. I definitely enjoyed this sentimental story of both triumph and despair of a great sports organization.

Do yourself a favor and see this! You'll definitely need a few tissues when you get to the end. :'-)

This documentary is excellent! It tells the story of the Oakland Athletics & Oakland Raiders of the 1970s. There are many good interviews with former players, coaches, sports writers, and celebrities.

The 1970s was a great time in Oakland. The A's won three straight World Championships in 1972, 1973, and 1974. The team might have even won more titles during the latter part of the decade but unfortunately their owner Charles O. Finley had cash register for a heart!:-(

The segment on the Raiders is equally compelling to see. The Raiders lost 3 straight AFC title games before finally beating the Steelers in 1976. They went on to easily beat the Vikings in the Super Bowl. Both of these sports teams very much epitomized the tough and independent spirit of the city of Oakland in the 1970s!

All in all this is a very good sports documentary to see!

I saw this the other day on AMC. I really did enjoy it even if it isn't the best film ever. Patty Duke is a scream and Barbara Parkins was great as Anne. Boy Ms Parkins sure was a knockout. I can't understand why she did not have a great career as an actress. I really would like to see this film remade though with maybe Jennifer Love Hewitt as Anne, Kirsten Dunst as Neely, and Reese Witherspoon as Jennifer. I'm planning to buy the book soon and read it because I heard its quite good.

This was a great film about brave students in Nazi Germany who risk their lives and start a student rebellion. Many people do not realize that there was a resistance movement in Germany. This film reminds us that not all Germans loved hitler and the nazis. Sophie and Hans Scholl were two brave persons!

I thought this film was interesting and engrossing. Miranda Richardson and Rutger Hauer were both good in their roles and the sets very well done too. I did find the ending a bit hard to swallow though. I read the book and found it to be much better. I never like when a film differentiates from the book. I was very impressed with Jean Marsh though. Marsh should have had a much bigger role than what she had. I absolutely loved her small but significant part. I have never seen such dedicated Nazi in any movie before. She made my blood run cold! I would have loved to see a sequel that focused on Anna Von Hagen very much. Jean Marsh Rocks!!!

Das Boot is my favorite war film. It shows war through the eyes of Germans. It is so realistic and intense that I live it every time I see it. It is one war film where I consider Germans to be the "good guys"! Their humanity and fight for survival touch me in such a way that I cannot help but be totally for them. It does indeed prove that beneath every uniform their lies a human being with hopes and dreams for the future.

It makes me realize that war is terrible for everyone involved. It makes me realize that our common humanity is much more important than politics. We all should recognize this fact of life. God bless the people who made this film. They not only opened my mind but also my heart! So I'd like to say to them: Vielen Dank!
