The Greatest Showman (2017)
More SJW Preaching
It's like going to the Church of Hollywood.
Cause even when you just want to watch a movie about clowns, it ends up being about race, diversity, inclusion.
The methods are not eloquent, nor subtle, but simple-minded. E.g. Its constantly things like 'you cant date someone darker than you'. - like sitting in a college sociology class. Would it not have been less preachy just to have them date, I mean, High School Musical people werent complaining that Zack dated an equally tan girl.
Sure, messages of kindness to others is important, but somehow this seemed to be one giant 60's gender-rebellion escapade typical of Broadway, instead of some fun family movie, that is so pervasive in Hollywood movies now.
I gave it one extra star for having good dance, and fun music--albeit out of place for the rest of the movie setting.
After seeing this, I can quote Nietzsche:
*** Fun is dead. ***
Hanna (2011)
This movie would be interesting, if you grew up a remote arctic forest like Hanna
After the first few times falling asleep, I finally got through it (to give it a fair review).
The plot-line was as cheesy-predictable-80's style as you can get, while the action sequences were perfect excuses for potty-breaks (and completely ridiculous at times); let alone the over-the-cliché-top acting, and the terribly executed themes like "i'm a teenager and i don't know who i am--waaah!"
Additionally, it didn't help that it was shot on a camcorder of sorts. There was no soundtrack, just a bunch of banging pots and pans, with someone leaning on a keyboard, which got really annoying after awhile
To top it off, the pro-lesbian theme of the directors/producers is really distracting.
How come this terrible movie gets a 7.0 rating? There are two possible explanations:
Why did it get such high ratings?
"1. the movie company hired 40,000 people to give high ratings. 2. people who dislike this film tried to fool other people to waste their time as well. Apparently, I was fooled and I want my 2 hours back! "
P.S. I am a director in unrelated subject matter.
La véritable histoire du Chat Botté (2009)
A Poor Attempt to Trick People into Watching a Copycat Film
The sole purpose of creating films like these is to attempt to fool consumers into renting the wrong movie. Yes, looking really carefully on the cover can help avoid this sometimes (assuming you know what the "real" one actually looks like, and take the time to check in detail), but the companies that produce these kinds of films are just looking to make a quick buck. These movies are constantly released through outlets such as Redbox.
Second, the movie is dull, extremely shallow and poorly written, that any Saturday morning cartoon is far superior to this rubbish. I will rarely criticize a movie on visual/technical qualities, but for ones that do a terrible job at the most basic story-telling I have little tolerance. Many of the sequences for even annoying and silly.
Where the Wild Things Are (2009)
----> Extremely Boring, Confusing & Depressing <----
The kids book was great.
The movie is terrible for kids and adults, and just weird.
Nothing but a bunch of monsters bickering, fighting, and arguing about their problems in a very serious and aggressive tone. You're better off watching some lame reality show like the "Real World" than you are watching this. Definitely not for kids at all.
It really is a depressing show overall. One of the only films I probably ever regret having watched. Not only a waste of time, but seems to really put the idea into my kids heads that fighting is normal, and how to deal with problems.
Even without all that, as the other reviewers put it, you're not really even sure what the show is trying to say--It's all over the place.
Do yourself a favor and read your kids the book instead!
